Just had a heads up guys.

Heard this morning that JPG Magazine will be closing its doors soon due to the financial climate.

They've made all their issues available free of charge on the website.

I've pulled it all down, and its 240MB of PDF files.

Someone can buy it and turn it into the JP Girl Mag :)

BTW no wonder, JPGs with the lossy, layerless format suck for
pro photos. LZW TIFF and PDF are king, ne? :)

Kind of irrelevant what quality the photos are in (even though they're pretty decent)... It was just a nice magazine, and had some good photos in it, and occasioanlly some good tips as well.

Never heard of it :o

I hadn't until about 3 months ago either..... Camera Club at work pointed me to it....

Had some interesting photo features. Each issue has a different "theme" and photos interpreting that theme..

Seems it was just another lossy-glossy. :)

Traditional print media better figure out how to survive on, or adapt to, the web asap.

yeah I know, and I agree.. I doubt I would have paid for the thing, but getting it for free is something I won't complain about.

Just to clarify, I was laughing at Peter's "JP Girl Mag", not at the jpg format. Whenever I speak to an established photographer, that's the format. They use Raw for model shoots and product photography. Events, news and sports = jpg

quite sad. shame to see something that has been around promoing "amateurs" going under.

Makes sense - the requirements for newsprint are hardly exacting.

I downloaded a few ... some great ideas for future shots ... man do these pics tell stories.

That for me has been the big thing about getting all the issues...

Some great ideas for future shots.. already have at least 4 or 5 trips planned in my mind.
