I watched soccer on HD for the first time last night and it looked awesome, so i started to wonder when will rugby or cricket be available on HD , i hope its soon.

Switched between the channels from normal 203 SS3 and then to HD and there is a huge difference, the one on SS3 looked so blurry..................my wife's comment was that it looked like Playstation 1 graphics compared to today's high quality.

Well the Currie Cup final was broadcast in HD, so hopefully supersport will start to broadcast some of the local super14 matches in HD.

It was??

Didn't know that, ok we can only hope

I do not think DSTV is serious about HD. They purchased the Obama inaugural concert at the last minute and broadcast it on the normal MNET.

This program was available in HD! but they could not care.

All the cricket matches in Australia is available on HD as well. Supersport receives a normal feed of cricket in 16:9 format, crop the sides off anfd broadcast it in 4:3 format. Although not HD, widescreen is also a major improvement for the owners of widescreen TV's.

They are so interesed in the subject that not one of their reps have even responded to people's requests on their own foum.

Apart from that, their HDPVR software is buggy and lacks a lot of features available on other decoders. Their only major update of the software was to implement Extraview in the six months I have a dcoder.

Also, they repeat the same movie three times in a 24 hour day. Now why did I have to buy a PVR to watch HD, I will be stupid if I record a movie on the repeats channel.

Thanks to Icasa's licensing process this bunch is getting away with murder at a high price. There is still no competition, because the Icasa bunch in their deliberations forgot to award licences on the "Able to broadcast" principle but rather used all other criteria.

Sounds like Neotel also taking decades to start up.

Your right, last time we played in Oz they did broadcast it in wide screen on Super Sport 7 if I remember correctly, why not this time FFS:mad:

HD has a super 14 match every weekend during Feb, i assume it will continue for the rest of the tournament. All home games though, not sure if we will get any from Aus or NZ

Saturday 14 February
19:00 Vodacom Bulls vs Reds (live – k/o 19:10)

Saturday 21 February
19:00 Sharks vs Auto & General Lions (live – k/o 19:10)

Saturday 28 February
19:00 Vodacom Stormers vs Blues (live – k/o 19:10)

Great, but still if they get a direct feed from OZ and NZ why not broadcast it in HD. I still want to know why the didn't broadcast the cricket in widescreen??

they maybe just don't have the numbers yet in terms of subscribers to justify the cost of international feeds in HD?

If they're broadcasting the Super 14 in HD then I'm going to be a happy man... many braais will be had at my house :D

I had HD PVR for 3 weeks and just cancelled it. Why should you spend all the money and pay an extra R110 if you need 2 channels to view at the same time. The HD PVR is unresponsive - need to wait up to 10 sec to see if the button you pressed was registered. The EPG is constantly wrong causing recording to start in the middle of movies, they only have half HD (720p and not 1080p) and it goes from 8 am to midnight. They afternoon is spend on annimation and kids TV, the morning movie is the same as the previous evening movie and yeah, they do not do sport in HD. I have just returned from New Zealand where the SA/AUS was done in HD on Sky and that is marvelous. If they do not have the numbers to validate more HD content, they will lose the rest. Multichoice messed up HD the same way Sentech messed up broadband and Escom messed up our electricity supply.

Johan : please stop polluting valid threads with your ranting...

720p is not half HD, its the broadcast standard for HD. They do FA Premier league in HD, so that negates your no sport claim.

I will not take issue with your EPG statement since its true, and alot of us have taken it up with Multichoice.

Give it time,HD is the first major improvement in TV since black and white. Support multichoice for being the first channel to give us HD,things can only get better.

The HD PVR Decoder has a network card, but its only used to update software!

It would've been superdooperultracool if we could stream content from your PC to the device and watch HD content - DivX/h.264 - if only!

HDtv : Black and White TV - is like Fibre (FTTH) : ADSL (copper)
