i would love to read the fine print (not included) i doubt it is a true cap buster with no limits at all and more likely a elaborate proxy setup
 
well if they take the same route as datapro u get a proxy server and after ure capped ure on a VPN.
well my comment i made still stands on that article its messed up. WOW WE HAVE UNCAPPED ADSL and now were not only paying 1k a month like we had initially been raped but these companies want to charge me 2k for a service that if i paid that much in europe i would probably sitting in the 100 mbits/s lands.

overpriced thats my opinion.

Though to be fair with myself these companies have no other option considering that telkumonu tore the za IT industry a couple of new holes with their international pricing.

True words armitage. If you work out the average uncapped ADSL pricing world over it would be no more than R300 a month. So we have to pay over 600% more than the average country? Pffft, I think not!

On the one hand I think it's good that companies are taking the initiative to offer a solution to Telkoms stranglehold on the country and it's economy. But on the other hand it's an absolute sin that we have to pay those kind of prices to have something that the average child can afford out of their pocket money in other countries.

In plain english, I say it again, Telkom are thieves.

Im really starting to wonder if i should stick with this country and see it through no wonder the brain drain, people just want to life in a place where there arent so many companies trying to shaft u.

Its a heavy equation family/friends and the place that u grew up in vs. a chance to make something of ureself somewhere where ure not penalised for being a native as much as anyone in this country but with a different skin colour, being raped for ure telco's costs cause ure supposedly regionally remote, customer support and guaranteed uptimes.

1.5K a month is steep; think I'd rather take my chances with buying additional accounts ( could buy 6 for the same amount); in reality I'd struggle to get through 2 normal ADSL accounts.
 
Agree'd - 1500 a month is steeep - but it could work :
(5 neighbours). = 6 "people" using and paying for it.
= (680 * 1.14 Line Rental) = 775.20 + (1500 * 1.14) = 1710 == 2485.20 / 6 = 414.20 per house.
Quite affordable.
Houses are connected via FTP cable - hidden 1 m under the ground.

I have connected one neighbour (Running now for 5 months.) - 2nd one this weekend. FTP cable = approx 7-9 rand a metre. Plastic Conduit is quite cheap. Digging is a nightmare.

I recon that in 5 months time I could do the entire block - 15 houses. 15 houses will probably need to use 2 or 3 adsl lines.

But then Teklom will change their minds and not allow Storm + DataPro to do what they're doing.
Thats the real risk.

The uncapped Storm and DataPro offerings are aimed at SME's, not at the average ADSL user. If you're a business the above packages work out cheaper than contended 64k Diginet (incl line rental) and you get 8 times the bandwidth! I believe you also get a dedicated IP with the Storm offering.
 
It won't matter if telkom puts a 1gb cap. At the end of the year all isp will have to manage their own bandwidth the regard to ADSL
