Is there a way to calculate the amount of data that you have used on your BB (BIS). I need to budget for a trip to the UK and I like to know how much data I use every month. Vodacom says they cannot give you a amount as it is zero rated.

I'm off to the UK for a few days next week and was wondering the same thing. Guess I'll find out soon enough :o

I could be wrong, but I doubt that data from international roaming would be included in that ZAR59.00 per month BB contract.

I suggest getting a pre-paid SIM in the UK.

It wont be covered but then most PAYG doesnt include blackberry service (afaik).

I think the data rate in the UK is a flat r17.50 per mb so its just a case of whether or not bb compression is all its cracked up to be.

Yep Vodafone Password /World it is R17.50 per meg - some countries it is as high as R150 per meg:mad:

You dont need to activate anything special for that rate, right?

With the voice product you must activate it via SMS, so better check.

Also, remember it will only work if you're on a Vodafone network, so maybe set the foreign network manually.

Yep very important - low signal on Vodafone and switch over to Orange automatically and you get charged R85/meg.

V3G - is there now way that Vodacom can give you an indication on what your BIS data usage is?

Let me check. might have to be done by hand, so I'll see if I can get my own usage. Will most likely be BB APN usage, but I think it means the same thing in this case.
