I'd like to restrict internet browsing to 1 website only

Hi,

I need to restrict browsing to a single website eg: www.xyz.co.za

Any recommendations on freeware that does this?

I found this:

Any Weblock enables you to block access to specific web sites. Just enter the domain name of the site to block, apply the changes, and the user will no longer be able to access the site. There is no block message displayed, the simply appears to be unavailable. The interface can be password protected, but since the program uses the Windows HOSTS file to redirect blocked sites, it can be easily bypassed by a tech savvy user.

But I don't want to add websites to block. I want to block everything except for one website.

Any recommendations on freeware or methods to achieve this with IE?
 
lol, set the site as your proxy then it wont go anywhere else but there lol
 
i'm sorry, this would be torture.... you just can't force that on to someone!

That sounds like the simple solution I need lol

Didn't work though...I set it as the proxy but couldn't access the needed website or anthing else.

Is the PC locked down? You could force IE to run in Kiosk mode, pointing to a single address....

Sounds interesting. Where do I activate this kiosk mode?

was the port set to 80?

any way, a proper solution would be to set up your own proxy/gateway that has access control lists e.g.

Deny all domains except xyz.com

It was set to 8080.

Now if only I knew how to setup a proxy/gateway with access control lists :D
 
Check in your router if you can set up only one site there.

Can you use IE's content adviser and remove every site on the allow list then add the one you want to allow, or use group policies. That should do the trick but you should also disable the USB ports to prevent Portable FF, etc.

I'd also consider installing Steady State (it's free from Microsoft) to discourage any changing of settings, etc.

So that people cant change stuff? Create a shortcut with this as the path: iexplore -k page, and put it on the desktop. Remove the usual IE icon. When the user opens IE it goes directly to the page you specified. IE then has no address bar to change the address. Of course if a user can edit the shortcut, or access IE any other way, then it is easy to bypass, thus the requirement that the PC be locked down....

or option 2,a minidns server running on a pc,redirecting all requests to the local site
 
Man I'd hate to work for any of your companies ;)
 
I wish it falls under Human Rights to have access to all site at work:D:D

Then I can get a whole lot of mp3..:p
