Bloody hell it's about time..! [B)]

Problem is, it is only long distance (national as well as international)

It won't get more people out of the telecoms dark ages.

It won't have much of an effect on most households telephone bills.

It won't make it more affordable for the poor to call a doctor

And it won't make Internet access more affordable for the masses.

South Africa needs World Class Broadband at World Competitive Prices.

The report indicates that Telkom's gonna cut long distance call fees - which makes sense since thats where they'll feel VOIP competition most.

Don't expect to see local call drop anytime soon though - I mean even to use VOIP over a non 24/7 connection you have to dial out...

<font color="blue">Telkom needs a leash, ICASA needs some guts, and the </font id="blue"><font color="red">SA consumer</font id="red"><font color="blue"> needs to make it happen</font id="blue">

They dont even have competition yet and they are running scared.

“Our domestic long-distance voice traffic and our international voice traffic are areas where we may be vulnerable to competition,” says Nxasana.

Translation: We have decided to withdraw our c*ck half an inch from our customers rectums as they are starting to notice the pain.

I drives me insane to see how they are trying to put every possible positive spin on events for their own benefit.

Reading their press statements would lead you to believe they are the ones delivering all these benefits. Sickening ... we need sites like hellkom to de-spin the news.

Telkom can bleat all they want know but the vice of competition is steadily going to tighten on their balls.

PS: MaD ... you wont believe how many UCT people follow hellkom on a daily basis: Dean of IT faculty, profs, students, ...

Jeeva I suggest you keep your racial opinions to yourself. This forum promotes freedom of speech, but not freedom of racial slurs...

LOL, funny how they all of a sudden 'CAN' reduce the rates. Proof that they have been robbing the population of this country for way to long already.[V]

It leaves me worried. Ponder, ponder, ponder. Racial slurs? Big no no!

### What we need in South Africa is cheap 24/7, always on Internet for under R300 a month. ###
