Telkoms Sunday Ads

Sunday Times included a Telkom booklet advertisement yesterday.

This is all very annoying. I mean, Telkom SurfAnytime is the kind of product I’ve been looking for from them for ages.

It is pricey though (surprise []) , the savings only kick in if you connect a lot during the day for short periods to collect email twice an hour for instance, but they could have launched this years ago. (There is no 0.56 connection fee, it is per second from the first second).

You still cannot escape the fact that 40 hours per month from Telkom SurfAnytime will cost you R727 against R120 for 24/7 dial up in the UK.

Ridiculous.

This is yet another CRAPPY product offering from our most favourite provider. The saving is so little, it can be ignored, just like the surfmore package. And, as I expected, from their website we read the following: "Inclusive minutes not used within a specific month cannot be carried over to the next month"

To put this in perspective, why do our free cell phone minutes accumulate? Why do we not pay a mininum fee if we use our cell phones?
If MTN, Vodacom and Cell C can do it, why the hell can't Telkom? Just another manifestation of their monopolistic rip-off mentality.

What we have here is another money making scheme. They are bargaining on the fact that in some months not all the minutes will be used, so the customer still pays, and Telkom scores.

The only good product they have come up with is Infinitcall and that was years ago already.

Yeah he clearly came up with too good an idea and was fired for not increasing shareholder value.
