tell him to shove it and go over his head

or tell him you want to speak to legal... because LEGAL told US that they won't stop a person from cancelling due to poor service

lemme guess, anyone can walk over you right? Should I call in and cancel for you? I'll vloek them like they never believe...

Hell, my gran on a scooter with a memory stick is faster than Sentech's MyWireless!

to much anger man: ok, just wanted to check what to do. I'm not very familier with this kind of thing so i just wanted some advice. Actually: Just wanted to know if they can do that!

i just phoned the "help"desk and opened a cancellation ticket - it was cancelled the next day...

This was going to happen sooner or later.

If sentech feel they have fixed the problems and they are still loosing customers they are going to start enforcing the terms of the contract.

So if you are hoping to get out of the contract at some point in the future e.g. to jump ship to iBurst ... beware!

get a stop order on the debit. change your name. hide away. people get it right all the time. dont ask me how -- but look at all the unpaid parking tickets and bad debts. somehow people are getting away with it. luckily in this case its almost fraud since the only thing you owe sentech back is the modem. so drop it off with a note saying "from koos. now leave me alone" and blcok the debits. :-)

Modertators ! I think its tim we put up a sticky on how to cancel for clients who are not sure,

This includes Sentech and Nowire, as nowire will not cancel any contracts, we are in such a long drawn out process, that we are considering legal action against them as they have breach the contract and there it is null and void.

If you fill up a station wagon with data tapes and drive to capetown you could transfer 10000 GB in 11 hours, and it would cost you R 500 in petrol, Thats the kind of internet I wanna see !

koos, a friend of mine went to a lawyer and asked him to do the cancellation. When they (ST) came with their 70% crap, it was countered by the argument of bad service, non-broadband speeds, false advertising, breach of contract, lying, fraud, etc. etc. ST rolled over and cancelled. It cost the price of one lawyer's letter. But it will become more difficult later, especially should ST marginally improve their service. Even today it's probably more difficult to do than a month ago. The window of opportunity has passed.

clive, i was fairly happy (getting a little above modem performance) with the service about 3 weeks ago. Now everything just went west! The lawyer thing doesn't look like such a bad idea...

Based on the fact that they have allowed other users to cancel they CAN NOT selectively allow some people to cancel and not others (this is after all unfair). I would suggest you take the issue up the LEGAL dept (i think faizel was his name???).

The bottom line is this:
DONT TAKE NO FOR AN ANSWER!

The fact that they have cancelled other users without any problems caused a legal president. So they are screwed with their 70% crap. It is just so typical of the absolutely pathetic corporate culture at ST that they now trying this trick. One way might work, albeit a bit risky, is to write them a nice letter telling them they are not providing the service you are paying for. And that you are cancelling you payment. State it clearly that you will resume your payment as soon as the service is "fixed". Leave the option to "cancel" up to them. If they then threaten to sue you have two options, firstly you can "roll over" and resume your payments. The other option is to tell them, OK sue me, and see what happens. This is probably the option that I will take as soon as there is a viable replacement for MW, such as iBurst or WiMax.

nonroker, same goes for you. i just need some numbers so i can call the legal department.
