just watched it, its is pretty accurate stating that some of our homes are more protective then oversea banks, but the anc as always blame it on apartheid, some guy from cope pointed out the truth though, saying its been 15 years =).
 
Yah was watching it and found it interesting seeing how other people see SA.

nope i watch the satellite channel when bored. They have a few things on SA often lately, i think it will increase ahead of the elections & WC/2010. Their 30min shows are interesting sometimes especially the ones on SA, like the series 'Saving soweto' etc

Your best bet is to check the website for their youtube page.(all their content is on there)

Have you seen Louis Theroux,Law and Disorder in Johannesburg ?
Some really disturbing stuff going on here in Jozi.

Last week, we saw Louis Theroux in Philadelphia, looking at the wrong side of the tracks where violence and crime are a way of surviving. One TV Scoop reader said "Jo-burg's gonna make that place look like an English seaside resort on a Friday night though" in anticipation of last night's Louis Theroux: Law and Disorder in Johannesburg (BBC Two, 7 December, 9pm). Boy, were they right. While Philadelphia was as tough as old boots, Johannesburg was so much more savage and brutal, with guerilla security rackets patrolling the streets and battering people unconscious while Louis looked on agog.

(I collect EVERYTHING I can find on SA, from old movies, to any TV stuff).

re the law and disorder episode - yeah, it showed the increasing hell of urban SA, and the degeneration that is occurring.

It was actually a pretty good show, apart from when they showed the clip of David Frost interviewing JZ... that creature is a moron, saying our crime is average... who exactly does he think he is kidding?

was thinking more than ever, that the only reason there's crime in SA, is because the ANC wants there to BE crime - it stops political movements from springing up. It was simple for them to do. They wanted to stay in power - all they have to do is

1. Open the borders.
2. reduce pay and budget for the police.

(optional 3. allow a sexually transmitted pandemic to spread, as an extra whammy. To kill off the uneducated and stupid, and clog and use up available services.)

and that's it. The ANC stays in power, and can shrug and deny any responsibility.

I think the SA state is intent on killing a lot more people. Or rather 'allowing a LOT more people to die.'

Average citizen (of all races) is so busy being scared, and trying to survive, they AREN'T going to gradually be able to form new political parties and mount any effective campaigns.

It's Stalinist - but without Stalin or secret police to create the terror.

Its a pity that most of the people with the training to mount a new armed liberation, (the former SADF and 'boers') are so stupidly stuck in their racist beliefs. My gut feel is the only way for SA to achieve a real democracy, is a new non-racial liberation war, this time against the ANC - and this time, striking no deals with Big Business in the final moments of the Struggle. Nationalize the crap out of everything. A 'real' democratic party could have fixed SA in 15 years, EASILY.

Pave some roads, emergency housing, soup kitchens, advertise globally for doctors and teachers, ramp up pay/training for cops, close borders to keep the pond scum of Africa out. Nationalize and grab the Oppenheimer wealth (and De Beers). And that's SA sorted out and en route to a good future. Instead...

Problem is you can't nationalize those things easily without backlash from investors in future endeavors and then you will the US coming to kick our arse(oh wait we don't have oil, never mind ;))

Basically what SA did in the last 15 yrs, and i am sure if you go to most university commerce dept they will have a lecture on it, is they got onto the globalization game albeit a late entry to it. In that sense SA has pulled off a lot of things and caught up surprisingly fast but as with all globalized emerging economies social issues fell off by the side and was assumed to 'fix' itself as a result of progress(the usual globalization lie told).

I still think the best way forward is via spreading the power rather than an armed take over. There is really no point in doing that(armed liberation).
