Yep heading is a bit misleading. Apologies.

Apparently they will be hitting our shores in the next 2-3 months.

Indicative pricing is between R4000.00 to R4500.00 per drive making it R2.25 per gig at the R4500.00 price tag.

Personally - I will get me 2 on launch and then acquire the other 4 over time to complete my the upgrade for my little home server.

So will you buying the new 2TB once they launch ?

R4k - R4.5k sounds a bit steep. They're currently listed at R3500 (after 10% mark-up).

What? Are you planning on running a NetFlix service out of your home? I just looked across to my colleague, asked him what he would do with 2T's of storage and he was a bit dumbfounded.

I'm still having trouble filling up 500Gb...hopefully when HD content is freely available I might consider migrating.

Through who ? please let me know - which distro ? see if a bud can organise for me.

I know the 1st indicative pricing is not always correct, but that's what they say, so we'll see when it gets here.

R/$ was 10.08 , then 9.88 and today 10.59 - so I will only be happy once they are here and the price is on the sticker on the hdd itself.

Until then all is just conjecture.

another forumite on here currently has about 13tb's , I had about 7.5tb's at one stage, sold them off to get me 1.5tb's, but with all the hassles with the 1.5tb's I never completed my build.

Held off until things improve and now that WD is bringing their 2tb's I am def getting me some of that.

mostly Full H.D content.

a 1TB drive gets filled in about 2months

That is sad, I currently have about 8TB of content and like iDoL will be buying a couple 2TB drives once they are within a decent price mark.

Yep, there is just no space, this is over one weekend what my Torrent box does :

Total Combined (Mb): 48599.77
% Cap Used: 2263.1%

Friday eve 21.30 until Sunday Afternoon 16.30

If you can buy 1TB at about R1700.00 - why not just just two of them? :/

Up until 2 years ago, I battled to fill up 80GB ;)

I'd always take the lowest new HDD size when buying a new PC, because I'd just never got close to filling it!

My little NAS/Home server has only 6 Sata ports, no additional pci slots for expansion and I love the board.

So I need to get the largest available space to fit the 6 Sata ports.

Must be costing you a fortune to download all that

ahh , but then there are friends we have that are kind and want stuff but have no conns.

Sadly, I do those type of excercises once every 2 weeks.

So that there is enough to go for all at once.

If you are talking about Neo_X, then I think it's actually closer to 20TB....and yes, he has everything. (have never found pr0n on his PC though....must be on an external :D )

yeah - i'd do that too, especially if you can get them for like R1200 ! (like me)
