AGP Display card how to know if its gone?

Hi guys

I got a customer who had a problem with his pc said he kept getting blue screens and that it once or twice just went funny and made strange lines across the screen

So i plugged in the pc played around with it and could not get the problem...

Then he asked that i reinstall it since he wanted to remove a partition so i did that, but now once i try change the display mode the computer threw blue screen any idea's what could be wrong or how i can fix it?

How do i understand what the event viewer says it says system error on the times i got blue screen?

I presume System Restore has been disabled. Is there an error code when you get BSODs?
 
it flashes past before i can get to see the whole bsod... can barely even read one word...

Everytime i change resolution it gives a bsod...
 
You could try capturing a video of changing the resolution until you get the BSOD. Maybe in the video you could make out the words.

You installed the latest drivers? Tried some older ones?

But yes, it pretty much seems the gfx card is broken. Would be nice to be able to test it in another PC to confirm, or test another AGP card in the rig you're working on.

i am using older drivers... do you think heat could be the problem?

The card is a bit warm.

It's possible. Is it passively or actively cooled?

You could always try blowing a fan into the case. Doubt it's going to help though.

uhm its passive... and the sides aren't on. will get the sides from the guy tomorrow then...

I think its the heat eh...

Bad ram...old bios version...if u cant solve it with software solutions (ie format, resintall)...then u gotta do a memtest or hdd test...

U'll need a crapload of hardwares to swap and test.

But first disabled auto restart...somewhere in the system button from control panel and so forth..too drunk to know exactly where now...and google the error and see what microsoft says abou the error.

Ok going back to the hosue party :p
