Ive been trying my ass off to connect from last night and the whole of today - dunno what's going on because I've just connected Quite easily after I changed my settings to GPRS ONLY.

All I get every time I try connecting to 3G, is a 619 RAS error.... kinda feels like TIAL shouting at me "RAS RAS RAS!"

anyone else get this? what's going on ?

This is on Vodacom using an E272.

RAS! RAS! RAS! RAS! RAS! RAS!

:( i'm probably gonna be sitting with slow ass GPRS again tonight - ANYONE know what the hell RAS 619 means???

sorry to sound ungrateful shark but that thread is useless - no "conclusion" and it's closed as well :(

i've tried the double usb plug.

i've used the sim and modem for exactly 1 year actually - does the sim expire if you don't make calls on it after a year?

aw man I've had it up to here with GPRS.

connected to my HSDPA connection 100% no problems at roughly 17:45.

18:45 - BAM! RAS Error 619. here we go again......

I can't take these p1ss poor speeds anymore! wtf....

Sounds like a 3G coverage problem:-

Error 619

This could be related to a number of issues.

1. SIM card has not been inserted in the datacard correctly. Remove and re-insert the SIM card.
2. The APN has not been setup correctly. Sub will need to edit his profile for the “internet” APN.
3. Sub’s SIM card has not been provisioned properly. Sub must phone 155 from cellphone to make sure his SIM has been provisioned properly. Helpdesk needs to remove and reload the DATA provisioning on the sub’s SIM card.
4. This error code could also be related to a coverage or network issue or network congestion.
5. Try connecting via GPRS Only via the dashboard.

thanks for the input, nuyork - GRPS does work.....so the card is in properly, it's enabled, APN = internet, what now ?

I've tried using Mobile partner but it also ONLY connects to gprs.

*sometimes* I can connect to 3G, but then it disconnects after a while......

Soz man, didn't read that post.

What happens if you restart after a disconnect? I'm in midrand, close to vodaworld, and mine also disconnects(sometimes), but then I have to restart to get it working again.

Can you take yours to work maybe and check if you experience the same there? Are you using prepaid/contract and 32/64bit sim card?

32 bit prepaid.

good idea though - i'll bring it tomorow and check !

I used to have that restart-to-fix-it problem but now it doesn't even wanna connect on a fresh startup.

I'm telling you guys - the problem isn't on this side. any other kempton park people out there connecting fine ?

no, I have 3 of them and an e220, e530, e620 and another old (very old) e180....or was it e190 ?
of course i only have one e272! hehe - you think it's 3G is busted though? that thing gets bladdy hot man!

How many bars of 3G do you get?

Do you know what tower you are connecting to? (use MDMA to tell you)

If you have good 3G signal (2 bars or above), but you're still getting disconnected. Could be that the 3G tower you're connecting to is congested with too many users.

ok i'll check tonight and report. thanks a lot nuyork

I can't take this slow speed anymore! i'm gonna lose my mind here....

At my Work, our Internet is iBurst, which is split between 5 people - it feels like 10GBs compared to this!

I didn't pay R2400 for a 7.2 MB/s capable device which now only averages 19 bps.

can anyone make heads or tails of whats going on here ????

Have you got the new MDMA? - http://www.nerve.org.za/mdma/

I know the newer version (1.0.0.27a) gives the the Cell ID. If you happen to log a call, you can give them the CI (Cell ID), so they know which tower you're connecting to as well.

I see your 3G is -73db, which is damn good 3G levels. I would have to guess that the site you're connecting to is highly congested with too many users. You'll normally get 619 errors in this case.

I guess you haven't tested this at work yet?

heh...forgot my modem :D

but lets say it does work fine - doesn't help really, all i'll know is the modem is working. still doesn't fix kempton's 3G tower / my PC settings.
