Infinitcall cancelled?

My brother says Telkom has cancelled Infinitcall. All customers who currently have it can still use it, but they won't allow any further applications for the service.
I see on their site that Infinitcall is no longer listed on their "all products" page.

Any truth in this?

This is what was claimed by a Telkom superviser MaD spoke to on Sunday. He will confirm today.

If this is confirmed they are replacing a product that gave you 432 hours of dialup a month after hours for ~R500 with SurfAnytime that gives you 40 hours dial up (at any time) for R727.

Nice deal isn't it? 1/10th the dial up time for 50% greater cost.

How very telkom-ish of them [}]

OMG but telkom are gay, this is sooo lame.....i mean cmon! like over half of tha peeps in SA rely on InfinitCall............wtf are those morons over @ telkom thinking.........trying 2 start WW3 or sumthing?

The R7 call plan/Infinite Call, in my opinion, was the one and only good thing Telkom has ever done for this country. Even though I cancelled it when I got my ADSL, I still think it's a great product because it benefits so many people.

I certainly hope this is not true. This is just like Telkom - one step forward and two steps back.

It doesn't seem as if *existing* customers will be affected, but rather that Telkom won't offer the product to new subscribers anymore.

I.e. If you have it now and arn't going to move and/or change your number you should be OK. For now.

why not, can then charge them more for service, with less bandwidth, do the math, on a 33.6k dialup, assuming utilising at 90%, one can download 3600MB, and that was only utilising 12 hrs per day, I didn't even add 52 hours per weekend.

I just phoned Telkom new services and they claim it is available and will continue to be available.

Perhaps they are just not going to advertise it anymore? They sure are pimping ADSL atm ... [?]

I called them on the weekend and they said SurfAnytime will replace it... misinformation, I wonder WTF is going on.

While this is certainly entertaining we don't want this to turn into a troll thread [] Karnaugh, I don't know what has made you so jaded over the past few months. Your posts used to be informative and interesting but now you seem to take personal issue with everyone and everything. This isn't an attack, just a third person perspective. I also don't agree with hArTh and MaD reciprocating in the personal attack... guys play nice!

Having said this, while MaD may not be the most tactful and diplomatic person you'll ever meet he is one of the few who as gotten off his ass to make a difference regardless of consequence and for that he has my respect. hArTh, I think you need a beer []
