View Full Version : To the Neotel Rep - Re: NeoFlex

Our current configuration includes a belkin wireless ADSL router. From the FAQ compiled from the Neotel rep and from the Neotel website, it seems that NeoFlex Data is the only product that will fit this setup, as the NeoConnect Prime product requires a PC to be always on in order to share a connection.

We are not using a lot of data, and to my horror NeoFlex Data is priced from R700 for 10GB. Any plans on the cards to introduce lower packages with this device?

Can the NeoConnect Prime device be substituted for a NeoFlex device on a Prime package?

Hi,

Currently the only product that acts as a 4 port / WiFi router is the NeoFlex Data product.

Neotel has been listening to its customers...so watch this space on Monday - a surprise on its way

So, the NeoFlex Data (http://www.neotel.co.za/neotel/view/neotel/en/page68465) page shows:
Why choose this service?

Peak speeds of 3.1Mbps (downloads) and 1.8Mbps (uploads)
Average data speeds of between 450 to 900Kbps (downloads) and 300 to 700Kbps (uploads)
I look at that and can't help but wonder how realistic/attainable ...sustainable those *cough* "peak" numbers are. I mean, if the (split the difference) average is a piddling 675Kbps, why tease/taunt/barf "marketing" upon us with peak numbers that are, realistically, five TIMES higher than your published averages? For that matter, given the horror-stories elsewhere here on MyBB, how can we even believe the (alleged, I want proof if I am to believe) average speeds?

Could be this:

http://mybroadband.co.za/news/Telecoms/7330.htmlOk, explain then to me how would it relate to an announcement on Neoflex? From what I understand what the Neotel rep said, we can expect an announcement on another Neoflex package. That article you are referring to only boasts about a partnership with Cisco that doesn't really offer any advantage to the home user.

Agreed, I do not see the link between this Metro Ethernet and Neo Connect or Flex stuff. Customers need products for customers, and most importantly, COVERAGE. Anyway, ME is an old product, so old product + marketing re-launch = new product? Somehow the maths don't work!

Give us CDMA cards, a la 3G (even if it is USB, Cardbus (PCMCIA) or Express.

Thanks Neotel - this is a step in the right direction to gain me as a customer. Hopefully you introduce a 2GB or 2.5GB NeoFlex service soon, at a competitive price, then I will sign up in a flash.

We have excellent coverage, so hopefully "soon" is in fact soon!

I see the Neotel website (http://www.neotel.co.za/neotel/view/neotel/en/page68465) has been updated. However, there is no mention of the 1GB package.

Yeah my Telscum line and 3Gig cap from Cybersmart works out to R422 or thereabouts. (Without calls)
So an extra R50 for 2more gigs and to be free of Telscum would satisfy me.
I'm not a hardcore online gamer anymore, so pings are not important to me.
Freedom of choice and ease of use, however is.
And a 24 month contract does not sit well with me.
Especially with Seacom landing in the next few months ;)

How much for NeoFlex with no CAP!!

That should be the first thing you do!! I am looking at Telkom uncapped again

sorry Neotel but your service just is not stable enough at the moment & I am happy to pay the extra R500 for 4Mb stable line.
