can someone please advise me in putting Office 2007 on an acer aspire one?
It was suggested to use tiny office but its not the same. the instalation gives the error message "cannot access microsoft private folders" is the a trick to the instalation?:confused:
 
What do you mean?
Is there problems installing or you just don't know how to install it?

If you want to install it, use either an image file or load it in an external DVD drive
 
Have you tried open office?
 
i did and it works but my wife is doing a Microsoft office course and she wants the laptop...:-( so do you see my problem?
 
I'm assuming you mean installing Office 2007 on an XP version of the Acer Aspire One. In fact although it comes with a health warning from other users, I have just installed Office 2007 on the solid-state-drive version of the Aspire, and while it won't break any speed records, you can certainly live with it. On a hard-disk version of the machine it should run a treat.

On my SSD version of the netbook, which I converted myself from the supplied Linux to XP (not something for the faint-hearted or anyone short of time, beware!), MS Word now loads in less than 30 seconds, which is respectable enough. Where the SSD version slows down is when you are writing to the drive -- reading is lightning-fast.

It is said that the freebie OpenOffice is faster because it has a smaller 'footprint' and is less resource-hungry. But if you have Office 2007 and are used to it, it will certainly run happily on a netbook, at modest speeds.
 
Personally didn't have any issues installing Office 2007 on my MSI Wind via a flash drive but here is what I've been doing to install software:

1) Use a PC with a CD Drive to make an ISO. ISO Maker or Nero will do the trick
2) Download Daemon Tools onto your Aspire One
3) Put the ISO onto a Flash Drive
4) Use Daemon tools to open up the ISO
5) Install
6) Unmount the ISO and then the flash drive.

Should solve all your issues!
 
tried it but still says cannot access microsoft protected folders ,rolling back installation......
 
Yes that happened to me when I tried to do a pre-customised install of Office, same problem with Protected Folders. In the end I had to go the 'normal' route: copy the entire Office CD contents (incl. hidden folders) to a flash drive, then launch setup from there and customise your install through the normal Office installation routine. Worked a treat.

A tip for better performance from the SSD version of the AAO with XP (or indeed any similar netbook) is to download the demo version of eBoostr (find the address through Google); like Vista's Ready Boost it caches your most-often-used apps to a flash drive or even to RAM if you have enough, or a combination, and once you have loaded an app once it is astonishing how fast it loads next time around. Word in 3 seconds for example! The demo version has no expiry date, but it will only run four hours per session, which should be enough for most folks. If not you have to shell out $29.
