Neotel in Gordons Bay

Nope .. only experience I have is checking out their website every few weeks (always without any luck - no coverage ... but that seems to be the general story behind almost every other neotel thread started here) :( Sowwy

Hey Digilus,

You say "no luck". Can I assume you also want to have Neotel? Just for your information, their coverage map is out of date and I have perfect signal in Harbour Island, they came to test yesterday. They also have very strong signal on the mountain side.

The reason why I was asking wasn't because of coverage but because of the general low speed, especially upload, that people experience. So I would like to know if I have to expect the same if I would go for it. Unfortunately they can't do a live speed test on site.

Ahh oki Anony :)

Thanks for clearing that up. I'll keep an eye on this and see if anyone else responds, but frankly with an old coverage map I am sure people are not even bothering to try them if they don't appear to have coverage (points to himself) - I'll pop in at PostNet in the morning and ask about it.

Well you lot in GBay are lucky with all the WISPs you guys have - her in Somerset West its either Snowball, iBubbles, Neotel or Telkom !!!

I actually spoke to a Neotel rep about 2 weeks ago via phone, and he told me that there is no coverage in my area. And I'm about 1km away(maybe less) from Harbour Island.

The tower is here in Somerset West at busy corner (cnr Main and Victoria street). Thats about 13km as the crow flies - tad out of range for you.

My brother uses GBay wireless and he lives above the old harbour.

Our place is next to the Pick n Pay centre. Been using Gbay Internet for more than 2 years now. Im tired of being restricted to this 2GB cap. Isnt there something we can do about it?

3GB?

Is 3GB a WISP? or were you just kidding. At work I have a uncapped IS 512 adsl connection. On average I use 100GB a month. The GBAY internet connection is much faster, but the CAP is annoying.

You can goto 3GB instead.

Keep clear of Neotel - words of wisdom you best follow!
