What's better than Telkom's DoBroadband Level3?

I'm looking at getting a new dsl line, and the Telkom DoBroadband level 3 account looks like the best option.

Including 4mb dsl line rental (not normal telkom line), and 30gb account (3gb -int, 27gb loc) you only pay R554.

Does anyone know of a better option from a different ISP? I use to have the DoBroadband level 1 account and was very happy with that, but I've moved and need a new account now.

I download mostly, so very little need for international.

Okay, I'll reply to my own thread :)

Is the Mweb uncapped account a better option? ie. I do a line rental with Telkom and get a 1gb international acount with Mweb and then use uncapped/unlimited/free local?

My advice. Get only the DSL line part from Telkom. Do a self installation and save a big setup fee.

The go to www.hellkom.co.za and get an account from a good ISP. Webafrica, RSAWeb etc. Don't go for DoBroadband, i think it's a contract.. not 100% sure. Just ph them and get the line installed. No account from them, get that from another ISP.

GL :)

A brainwashed victim! :eek::D

lol, okay, 'brainwashed' but I get 25-30gb off my 1 gb dobroadband? In that case I'll stick with the brainwashed tag then :P

What about the uncapped local with Mweb? Is it still worth going for? I don't see any other ISPs with a similar offer?

I have dobroadband month to month, not a 24 month contract.
I bought my own router.

I get 3GB international (it's actually between 4.5 and 6GB)
and 30 GB local. I've never used more than 15 GB local.

Not giving any opinions, just my info to help you make your decision.

Thanks Smartguy, basically I don't mind paying for a contract, I just want to know how I can get the most local bandwidth for the lowest cost :)

Mweb seems to be the best bet, but I've never used them so not too sure, plus the recent 'no unlimited bandwidth' issue in the news is a bit of a concern.

+-9*i recomend no one ever goes close to a contract. i'm also on a month to month, do2 however. mweb tried to cap the local at 10 gig this month but because of the rulling that says isps must keep their local uncapped they didn' get away with it for long and i think it''s a sign that they'll impose an allocation and fine for going over it soon...
oh btw, do1=10 gig, do2=20 gig, and do3=30gig allocations

There is no Do3 contract.

And remember you only get local after your cap has been reached.

That would be a good option if you're wanting to download locally. ;)
