Warning: Manned Camera in Gordons Bay @ 23:35!

Just a warning: Just now saw a manned speed trap, when coming from Strand going towards Gordons Bay, just after you pass the fixed camera everyone knows about, just before the BP Garage - 2 oaks sitting by a camera making some $$$ tonight like never before. Those idiots that like to speed like crazy on that road at 1/2 AM in the morning is going to get a heck of a surprise! :eek: :cool:
 
They can trap whenever they want....

BUT it needs to be in an area where there are lots of accidents, and I'd guess there has to be a minimum distance between trapping etc....


Plus there are all the checks they have t do for a manned trap.. the right certificates, and calibration tests which you are allowed to request.

in the uk it's illegal to trap at night, you have to see them trapping. even the camera box's have to be covered in yellow reflective strips so that you can see them.. but then again this is africa

It is a danger area with dices etc taking place in the late night/early morning hours. I do not have a problem with them trapping there at all! :D
 
Oh well, funny enough I was driving back from my fiance' on thursday night at about 12 and i thought well there won't be cameras on this road. I usually drive 80 in that zone.

At least I slept over on sat night. Phew!
 
I'm surprised there aren't more accidents because of the flash of the camera. I tend to spook easily and my eyes are sensitive to the light. I can easily see myself having an accident if all of a sudden at night there is a very bright flash in front of me. The combination of being blinded by the light and the fright could easily cause an accident.

Or you can just not speed. Easy... No flashes... No accidents... :D

It has nothing to do with speed. It has to do with being on a dark and quiet road only to be startled by a flash light and temporary blindness.

It has everything to do with speed. If you're not speeding the flash won't go off :confused:

So if someone was blinded and startled by the flash and, by reflex, jerked the steering wheel and road off the road you would say the accident was caused by speeding?

Yes because if they weren't speeding the camera would not have flashed

Agreed with the blonde one.
Only time speed may not be a factor is if you were going along at 60, and someone else set it off but you shat yourself because of the flash he set off, and you crashed, well then - unlucky.
 
Any flashes that is directed at traffic will (must) be filtered ... so out the door goes that argument.

So, according to your logic, if someone was shot dead by the police while running away the cause of death is NOT a gunshot wound, but rather the cause of death was running away? The death certificate would read "death by running?"

Even if it is filtered it is very distracting and blinding to some people. I know because it's happened to me. Try setting off the camera on the M3 south between Cape Town and Lakeside. It gave me a fright one late night last year when it went out in my face and I was blinded by a second or so. Oddly enough I never got a ticket, though.

There goes your argument out the door.

No, the cause of death would have been the bullet, the gunshot wound would have been a result of said bullet :rolleyes:
