Can a totally flat battery be jump started and recharged from driving?
Thanks.

So better off buying a new battery?
When charging via jumpers, must the charger car be revving, or just idle?

why not get one of those Jumpstart thingys they are awesome.
Ones the AA use? Very cool.
Actually tried to push start it down a hill, but never worked!![]()
could be, we were stuck once at Trade Centre and a family on holiday from up the coast somewhere saw us trying to start the car so he offered to help and took out this thing and in seconds we were on the road.
we have one now ourselves but have not used it yet.
2nnd gear is the best. It MUST work, otherwise you have other problems.
EDIT: Make sure the ignition is on though!![]()

If you have a certain immobilizer it doesn't work. Depending on how it's set up. I know on my Bakkie and my Nissan Sentra I owned It could not be done unless you actually deactivated the alarm.
Cool. How much did it set you back?
Anyone know the rough cost of a new battery?
the Jumpstart goes for about R500 - R600 but we got a good second hand one for R250 i think a battery goes for about R500 now.
