Wait, how is Volkswagen SA so sure that the Golf GTD won't sell? I can think of quite a few people that will be more than happy to buy one.

Good thing Castrol changed their diesel oil's name to GTX Diesel a few years ago, otherwise we might have had a problem...
 
Audi, Merc and BMW is now standard with 130kw - why the 125K?
 
Im still convinced that Diesel will overtake petrol later on in the years give them a bit more with upgrading technology on them, look at audi in le-mans they came 1st and 2nd in the R10 diesel and it didn't have to stop for fuel that much..

Dont waste our time, VWSA sucks, but decent call.

I still dont trust them, they will probably bring it in in 2 door and the GTi 4 door only!
 
VWSA makes strange decisiond. One of the hottest hatches EVER to hit the country was delayed by over a year, and when that SEAT Leon CUPRA with all 170KW of power finally arrived and gave the brand a big boost, VW pulled the plug on SEAT. Had they launched the car the year earlier as planned, the brand would have a following like the twincam or the GTi or Honda V-tec clubs of this country.
The new shape Seat Ibiza got launched recently, could have sold pretty well, pity that VWSA has more dumbasses that clever asses. pity
 
I hear that instead of brining in the G6 GTD they will make a Sh1t1 GTD cause Sh1t1 sells so well :p
 
A TDi version of the GT Golf (3-door) has been available for many years in Europe. The GTi is also available there as a 3-door. Why VWSA doesn't sell these models is beyond me, probably also because "the South African market do not like 3-door cars. I've read that VW sells one 5-door GTi for every 50-60 3-door model sold.

To those who think diesels have kuk performance: Why don't you go and have a test drive in one. Even the standard 74KW VW Polo TDi, for example, pulls just as well as any normal 2.0L petrol engined car. The Seat Ibiza Cupra TDi (sympathy to all Seat owners - VWSA fscked you bad) is an example of a stonking good diesel performance hatch, with reliability to boot. I gave one a run on my Suzuki DL650 (with a passenger) late this afternoon and it kept up quite well.

If you've ever had the privilege of driving a 3.0 BMW-diesel you'd be dumbstruck at how far oil-burners have come.
