Hi all

Its almost impossibe to allow our kids to watch family rated programs during family time (<7pm) because DSTV seems to think its fine to advertise PG or R programs coming later during these programs.

Tonight's Idols is a prime example, adverts for Carte Blance with horrid images of mistreated animals.

We have tried to complain, but there doesnt seem to be an appropriate way via the helpline.

So if you have kids and you have the same problem then please reply to this thread.

Hopefully the powers that be will then make sure that adverts during family rated programs are also only family rated!

No kids should be exposed to Idols

I must say I do agree that kids should not have been exposed to those kinds of images.

Did the ad not carry a warning?

Not sure, but I dont think so. Regardless, if an hour program is rated family then everything during that hour should be rated family.

That is true however if the ad was carrying a warning as specified by the law then you 10-1 will not have a foot to stand on :(

Carte Blanche has always been on that time slot though. And they always advertise just before they come on. So it's not like it catches someone offguard. If i were a parent i would just restrict TV viewing between those times.
