SA Idol hates afrikaans music

I don't mind Afrikaans music but I can't understand it so what the point :)

hmmm heard that Afrikaans music actually sells a hec load? True/false?
 
Look i agree it does not matter who likes what music but you have to question this okes IQ. Your on Idols South Africa and your putting down afrikaans music and local music and expecting South African people to vote for you? I do not like afrikaans music but there are some classic tunes that i love.

This oke is rather stupid and if he gets voted off he has only his own stupidity to blame.

AFAIK, Steve Hofmeyer is the biggest selling artist in SA. (From what I last heard)
 
So what if the guy hates afrikaans music? I am afrikaans and i can't stand that crap. Yeah he was a bit stupid saying it on a South African reality show but still, so what?! Who watches Idols anyway? To me its like an Idiot Convention. But then again thats my personal opinion.
 
He said something along the lines of wanting to represent south africa internationally.

"If anything, then it is that I would like to represent South Africa internationally, that I want to make music on a level where I can make South Africa proud by singing internationally and representing the country."

Does it not dawn on anyone that something stupid has been done here?
 
Yea i agree it wasn't the smartest idea. I also think they being a bit harsh though.

You are an idiot or something went terribly wrong in your Afrikaans upbringing. How can you not like Afrikaans music?

I can understand if you don't like Kurt Darren or Juanita Claasen but what about ***ofpolisiekar, Melktertkomissie, Jan Blohm, Chris Chameleon, or Karen Zoid?

Well once again it's a case of the media misinterpreting what was said to create a story where there wasn't one.

YOU magazine ran a story about his brother and personal life. I fail to see how that is any of our business either. But they trying to sell magazines so go figure.

Chill dude...i'm coloured and afrikaans and i hate stuff like brasse vanne kaap.Because you're part of a group,doesn't mean you have to like every thing that group do.

How can someone be deemed an idiot because they don't like a particular kind of music? Am i retarded if i don't like rock? It's personal preference. My grandfather use to listen to fado (type of portuguese singing.) Doesn't mean that i must like it because it's part of the culture.

Sorry it was rude of me to call people names. I just got a bit carried away that an Afrikaans person can say that he thinks all Afrikaans music is crap. There are so many different types of Afrikaans music that you should be able to find something you like unless you don't like the Afrikaans language at all.
