Where do you stay? Perhaps there is a Wireless Users Group that you can join? www.wug.za.net

One thing, do you have line of sight (LOS) between your houses? (if you stand on your roof with binoculars, can you see his house?)

If you do have LOS a 30km link is possible. If there are buildings/hills/trees in the way you will have to find a spot that both can see and set up a 3rd kit there. That is pretty much how WUGs get started.
