Somali scumbags capture 21 American Sailors

What I would like to know is why we have not sent our navy up to help out with this mess? Maybe I'm just naive in this regard and I'm really not in the know as to the workings of our navy but didn't we just spend a whackload upgrading it? Naturally the rust buckets sitting in dry dock would not be of much use here but we have new corvettes etc. Also, not long ago, there was a navy top dog on the news stating that we were fully prepared to go and support in the battle against these pirates.

I just would've thought that we have a responsibility on this issue due to where it's occurring and I fail to see why politics should get in the way on this one. These are pirates we're dealing with, not a nation.

But I think you're right, marine. You don't mess with Team America and live to see another day.

A couple of things to consider
  1. our tenacious support for that ageing old fart dictator MadBob
  2. as soon as we got a seat on the Security Council the first order of business was undying love and support for the brutal regime in Myanmar
  3. ...accompanied by further attempts to extend the political life of MadBob
  4. no surprise then when we objected to charges brought by the International Criminal Court against Omar al-Basheer with the excuse of "there are more violent people than Basheer -- like members of the Bush administration"
  5. ... and lest we forget the Dalai Lama was refused a visa. Of course, officialdom could not be honest and own up to a preference for Chinese trade to human rights... no no no... please .... the visit would only "deflect attention from the World Cup "

And you expected these very same people to consider sending our navy to sort out a couple of pirates. Heaven forbid the gaggle of rag-tag pirates blow our new corvettes and subs out the water just before an election

Go Somalian Pirates !!! fight the corporate scum !!!!
HA HA HA HA
Any enemy of the US or Israel is a friend of yours :D

You probably one of those that egged the Pallies on when they were firing rockets at Israeli civilians, and then cried foul when they got an @ss whipping.

I have not heard many stories of these pirates killing people right? I do not think countries will wipe somalia off the planet for hijacking ships.

Lawl. Good luck, America. Good luck getting back your boys, the "good boys who rape Iraqi women". And above all, good luck getting them back from a horde of African Muslims. In other words, you are ****ed. Africa killed Alexander the Great. You don't stand a chance.

You see, fighting against Muslims is bad enough. But Africans, especially the primitive ones in North Africa, still have the herd instinct. Stick together, **** up everything in numbers. Muslim extremism+African mentality+Nigerian drugs=recap of Mogadishu.

Um... not quite hey!

He died in India - unknown causes.

Still, those poor Americans are in a heap of trouble.

:(

If you look at the facts, one of the main reason why the Americans and the west, never seem to win any of these wars, is because of the rules of conduct that their public hobble them with. Take these away, and you will see a totally different situation, or even allow the USA to use the same methods that their enemies use. They have the ordinance to do this, in easy to deliver packages. They can rain down death and destruction, much better than some 11 year old wearing a DuPont vest. And they dont even have to supply bs stories about virgins and such.
So the point is, be thankful, for the American public, holding back their army, if they get let free, the targeted enemies will cease to be.

It appears that Alan and co have had a sense of humour fail...wait i think its a birth defect.

Ok, well there it is.

It is believed that South Africa is being requested to escort ships between South Africa and Somalia because of fears that the attacks could move further south.

And heaven forbid they move further south or we may be forced to consider actually doing something.

naval source:
The bottom line is that the current situation cannot be allowed to prevail. We, as South Africa, with all the latest military hardware, cannot be seen to be sitting back and allowing the situation to continue as it is.

Basically what I was saying and yet we're not seen to be sitting back and allowing the situation to continue, we are sitting back and allowing the situation to continue.
