I question the ability of any non-hardware solution to properly calibrate a monitor.

Well when I replaced my CRT with an LCD, my colours were a bit wonky. I thought it was just the monitor but after having formatted my machine two weeks ago, the colours are fine now...
I guess this kind of software could've helped back then
