Hi guys

Some of the testers suggested that we open this thread where they can publish their results URL’s and compare services. I would like to stress that this is completely voluntary and that there is no pressure to publish your URL if you do not want to. If you decide to publish your URL please supply the package you are on and the URL. I will definitely publish the processed results (download, upload, latency, price etc) as soon as testing is over…

If you would like to join the group of testers (which will be great!), simply do the following:

1. Download the ‘line speed meter’: http://www.tcpiq.com/tcpIQ/LineSpeed/Download/
2. Install the application
3. Register the application
4. Set the testing details (It will be great if you can do as many tests as possible per day (up to 48, but the frequency is entirely up to you)
5. Supply me with your results URL and package you are on ([email protected])

I hope it deals effectively with exisiting traffic on the line :D Edit: I dont think it does :( Thats really going to junk my results :eek:

Nice to see they take privacy seriously ... :cool:

Here are my results. I just want to add that I think Sentech have suddenly increased the speeds, because I have normally only managed to get these speeds for the 1st 500KB. I noticed that when I downloaded the "linespeed meter" it came down at that speed for the whole 4.8 Meg, whereas before it dropped to about 5.5KB/sec. I am on Sentech 128

Hi Robone,

I had the same download speed for the file... hhmmmmm wil test some more!

What worries me, is that my test result shows a grazy upload speed. But yours seem fine!
 
Can anyone explain why all iBurst tests are showing a latency of 0?

<observations>
If you FF tab browse & compare all the iBurst results:
  1. Latency is missing (i.e. always 0mSec) on some results, but definitely available on others (perhaps a firewall issue- must look at the FAQs properly).
  2. Usually the Upload speed graph is similar to the Download speed graph, they only seem to differ in amplitude. There are some bizare looking exceptions though.
  3. On several graphs, it is clear that there is sporadic upload problem. Added: there was a problem several weeks back that affected a lot of us being able to do uploads, starting to look like that problem or one of its cousins is visiting.
As a matter of interest, what MTU is everyone using?

The only f/w problem is with Norton (which I am not using), latency testing doesn't feature in the faqs that I read.​

RPM, any ideas about the 0 latency mystery? (before anyone decides to come round my place for all their gaming addictions)

Ant, have you looked at your graph? It's weird- upload speed consistently 6.7 times better than download speed- maybe the connector is upsidedown in the DSLAM ;)

Just checked mine and the upload speed is ZERO on some tests. There has definately been a degradation in my speed since yesterday.

Last night my connectiong was VERY slow :(
 
zero latency issue

Thought everyone might be interested in the below:

We are looking into it. Our initial investigations suggest that it more to
do with WinXP SP2 and firewalls as they will block ping requests. If we
cannot ping you then we cannot report on your latency.

Added to this is the fact that our servers can no longer keep up to date
with the processing required to generate the stats. We are getting new
servers in the coming weeks.

Hi there,

I am curious to know why latency is appearing as zero in the tcpIQ
broadband performance test. My performance chart is here:

This appears to apply to all iBurst services. Is this behaviour normal
or is there a bug?
