2 Million South Africans Going On The Dole

The plan is most likely to be funded by the country’s estimated 5.5-million taxpayers.
Only 5.5 million tax payers in the whole of South Africa? WTF?
So from that are we to deduce that there are currently 5.5 million people with jobs?

Or you can use real logic and realise there is only 5.5 million working people in SA who earn more than R65k.

Hang on a second..... If you earn less than R65k a year you don't get taxed????
Holy **** wasn't like that when I was working in SA I was earning R24k a year...

Not my logic that was flawed it was my lack of knowledge :D

This is possibly the most retarded idea the ANC has come up with. (Until their next idea of course).

A dole system can only work when most of the population is working and so funding the programme. South Africa can't afford it, its as simple as that.

This fscks me off no end to be honest..

I am an honest, hardworking taxpayer.. and I've worked my ASS off to get to the point I'm at, and I'm nowhere near finished yet... and these monkey's want to hand out money to unemployed people?.. that just sounds like a recipe for creating more ppl who will never work in their lives...

Wow, you would almost think an election was coming up and the ANC was looking for votes... oh wait there is.

Exactly. There is a dole system in Europe and North America of sorts, but it only works if most of the population is working, otherwise it will collapse under the strain of millions of people getting free money from only a few taxpayers.

Even if the ANC is trying to buy votes, it does not bode well for law-abiding tax payers in SA moving forward.

That is the problem, the tax base is very small and those people get screwed with heavy taxes in order to pay for a zillion of unemployed citizens, instead of govt creating more jobs so the current taxpayers do not have to subsidise unemployed people.

Also, if you give someone a grant or a handout, you still have not restored her/his dignity. Only a job and a purpose in life can do that.

That's not a democracy.... full stop.
I'm quite shocked actually (excuse my lack of knowledge). It's more a welfare state and also discrimination towards those with jobs....

I'm like any normal person I think tax sucks but I do understand why taxes are needed.

It's no wonder the government has so much support....

IMO there's no chance the ANC will ever be voted out of power the masses have it too easy.... (BTW that's just changed my mind, I actually thought there was some hope)

Another free handout... and again the people are going to abuse it... dead one's... working one's... there is no sanity in this world anymore
Times are tough... but I will never sign up to this bullsh*t... work and earn your living... these freebies are going to be the quickest route to the Banana republic...
If they're going to eventually give them this money... let them work for it... give them some simple job... at least they can earn it ::confused:

"The government is forging ahead with plans to dish out cash to the country’s estimated two million jobless."

Aren't current estimates that at least 20% of the population is unemployed? That would be around 8 million people, not 2 million?

another fund for some anc member to pillage..

About 13.4-million South Africans already receive some form of social grant. But this new anti-poverty measure will see unemployed South Africans between the ages of 18 and 24 as well as jobless adults between 45 and 59 given cash for basic housing, healthcare and food.

Buying votes by misleading the masses.

Buying votes by misleading the masses.

I bet they have results of a secret survey that mention those age groups are most likely to vote non ANC or are siting on the fence... wouldn't put it past them

This is an assumption on my part btw before anyone jumps on me :D

You do know of course that there will be long problems in putting such a system in place. It is of course mentioned now, just for one purpose, to freaking lie to the stupid rural public, so that they can vote the ANC back in. You get the government that you deserve.

What is the alternative? To ignore the poorest of the poor?

No, the alternative is not to ignore poor people, but rather create jobs than give handouts. Alternatively, consider giving people vouchers for food, etc instead of cash.

There is no way any government is going to be able to create 4.3 million jobs in the short term.

If the guavas had done their jobs in the 1st place there would be no need to create 4.3 million jobs f f s

Time for me to stop paying taxes :)
