Orania on the witch hunt

The small whites-only enclave of Orania is in uproar this morning after it emerged that three residents voted for the ANC. According to Orania spokesman Vleis Golgotha-Verwoerd, the revelation has triggered a town-wide search for the culprits, with the pencil test being administered on a door-to-door basis.

* The Congress of the People says it is happy with its results so far, saying that its 8 percent turnout is a fitting tribute to its spiritual leader, Thabo Mbeki.

"Just like Comrade Mbeki we started this process with a lot of promise, very high expectations, and lofty rhetoric about changing African politics," said a spokesman. "And just like Comrade Mbeki we have degenerated into bickering, confusion and mismanagement, before proving wildly unpopular and being publicly humiliated. This really couldn't have worked out any better."
