The ANC are going to win.

Zuma will be our president.

And the ANC are creeping closer and closer to that all important 2/3rds majority...

Am I the only one feeling a bit uneasy about the future of this country? And am I right in feeling this way?

What's your thoughts?

I think it goes to show exactly what kind of power they have over the poor and uneducated/uninformed and by keeping them that way.

Well, we all anticipated the ANC winning again, so no surprise there. I had hoped COPE would take a few more votes out of the ANC's ego - enough to give the DA a chance at winning nationally, but unfortunately that was not meant to be.

So far it seems the DA will take the Western Cape which is at least a small but substantial victory as I see it. So the results are bitter-sweet :)
 
I'm going to take each day as they come, there is nothing constructive in being a nay-sayer in today's climate.

As for the 2/3rds thing, given that there were a record number of registered voters I think it could go either way.

Are you one of them? The poorest people in the country don't have electricity let alone internet connections. You'll probably find a water/electricity pilot site will go in along with some posters around election time.
 
I feel happy.

Ecstatic that the DA got the WC.
Very nervous about the two thirds majority of the ANC.

But it's inevitable, I suppose.

5 years of extreme voter education is required. Teach the uninformed about their rights, show them what is (hopefully) as much better life in Western Cape and let them know the struggle is over, that they need to worry about their own well being.

This wasn't done under Tony Leon, but hopefully a COPE/DA programme could drastically swing things in 5 years.
 
I'm happy for South Africa. Great voter turnout and well done to ANC, DA and COPE. The people have spoken. Zuma will be our president and hopefully we can now positively move forward.

Agree.

The majority of our country are not educated/informed enough to be part of a democratic society.

I've heard of stories that the ANC gave food parcels to the poor and organised transport for the people to the voting stations. Obviously branding and promoting ANC all the way. :mad:
 
I think it's great that such a new party could get around 8% of the vote. Hopefully this will increase come next elections by a lot.
 
What this election has shown me is that the majority, by far, approve of the rot in this country, they approve of the corruption, they approve of the country being run by a criminal.
I am really sad to see this reality set in.
I truly hoped and thought this election would change this country once and for all but clearly I was horribly wrong.
It seems that for honest law abiding citizens, this country is not the place to be.

The people have spoken (if it was a free and fair election) and they have indicated that they are happy with the way things were.
Lack of services, crime, corruption, etc.
Just a word of warning to those who have put the ANC in the 2/3 majority (if they get it) you brought this on yourselves and maybe now stop complaining ands stop the service delivery protests.
When the ANC eventually change the constitution after 2010, it will cement our path to the Zim 2 we all hope will not happen.
I am fairly sad at the way people voted, they just dont learn, voting for party not for issues. I was maybe in the back of my mind hoping that I would never have to go to OZ in reality but this has just shown that SA will not change. It will IMO get worse.

I think we all had hoped that with the way it had been going lately that a greater majority of the people would have had their eyes opened and voted against the ANC. We all had patriotically hoped that thing would start to get better for our beloved country and that we could once again be proud to be South African but like many before me have said, 'the people have spoken' and i can't help but feel the sooner me and my fiance leave the better because this is no-longer a place where i want to start a family and raise children.

Not to sound like a Doomsday Prophet but it would appear that the end is nigh.

People have been saying that for the past 15 years. It's really, really getting tired.
