Yet they've already released official Gauteng results, in a province with three times as many voters?

Something is suspect here. I imagine they're doing a re-audit of the entire province or something, as they finished counting in this province almost two days ago!

Do you think someone is leaning on the IEC?
 
Meanwhile, the DA has taken sole control of the Western Cape government
after winning an outright majority in the province with 51.46% percent of the votes.

The IEC confirmed that this is nearly double the DA’s tally in the 2004 general elections, a resounding victory over the ANC, whose share fell sharply to 31.75%.

It's pretty much a done deal that the DA won an outright majority of the Western Cape. 567 Cape Talk said there were only about 37 wards left to count this morning.
 
The point is this: the fact that the IEC is going over only the Western Cape with a fine tooth comb seems a bit unfair.
 
There have been complaints laid in the Western Cape by the DA, ID and others against the IEC, so the official results can only be released once these have been resolved
 
Yes, ballot boxes stuffed with ballots for one party found at a school in Khayelitsha... Wonder who they were marked for? Anyway, police investigating.

Nationally ANC: 65.96%
Provincially DAin WC: 51.31%

I think this is an unfair statement. All the irregularities and ballots found marked haven't been for the ANC. They've been for the other smaller parties. Nowhere has the ANC found to be in the middle of a sticky situation. They really do not need to rig an election to ensure they win. They aren't stupid!

They were marked for one party... Don't know if it was ANC though, they haven't said.

I agree.If a ballot box was found FULL OF DA VOTES then you bunch would slam the guy with the box and NOT THE DA.I don't think its fair to blame one or 2 incidents on the party.If the ANC wanted to rig votes then they sure as hell would have tried to do more than a couple of ballot boxes which is a drop in the ocean.

It is obvious they were marked for one party otherwise there would be no point in trying to rig an election if you were going to just spread the votes. I am speaking about the other incident in which ballots were found marked for the IFP. There has been no official reports of ballots being marked ANC.

As for this incident, if it is for the ANC, we will soon find out. So for now let's stop spreading rumours and gossiping like children in a playground.
 
The IEC should impose heavy penalties on the political party caught trying to cheat, even if only some members, such as in the kzn IFP incident, are involved. The party is responsible for their members and needs to make it clear that cheating is not an option.

They should be banned from taking part in the next election, or disqualified or something.

So if a DA member was caught with ballot boxes you would want to see the DA banned from next election?

Can't hold the whole party accountable for one rogue person.Thats like sending a family to jail because the son committed a crime,even though the family is innocent.
