AMD launches ATI Radeon HD 4770

Wonder where this card is gonna fit in?

How close does it get to the nvidia 9600?
 
these gpu's are gaining on nvidia not there yet but close.
 
It seems to compete very favourably with the 250. If this is priced right locally, I might move to the red team :)
 
$100 = R880!!! That's cheeeeeeap. Do not rip us off, SA distributors (ja right).
 
Fortunately for me, since I abandoned PC gaming in Dec07 in favour of an Xbox 360, I have no idea what is going on in the Graphic card market and I don't have to upgrade every 6 months.
PC gaming still rules, though... if you have $$

I still game on pc and I upgrade every two years.

Some people like wasting money.

Long term PC gaming is cheaper, anyone that can't see that is blind.

Exactly what I was thinking. Console gaming is extremely expensive when compared to pc gaming.

You can't even use the console to do other things like send a flipping email.

I disagree. Console gaming is cheaper if you're smart.

The average lifespan of a console is about 5 years, the capital outlay will be roughly R3500 if you're going for Wii or X Box, R5000 if you're going for PS3.

BT Games sell pre played titles at a fraction of the original price. They also offer a debit order deal whereby you pay R99 a month and you get 3 games on rental each month, latest titles, keep them for as long as you like.

So let's see. Year on year if you're a PS3 fan:

R5000 divided by 5 years (life expectancy before next gen console) = R1000 per year
R99 a month for 3 games a month, unlimited rental time = R1200 per year

So if you're smart you can have a Blu Ray player, media player, online gaming station, latest titles, e mail, wireless connectivity for R2200 a year - and it isn't plagued by constant virus and Malware attacks like the Windows OS.

And you're telling me PC is cheaper?:D
