Which lens? Sigma 17-70 or Sigma 28-70

Hi guys,

Okay so I have the Canon 450D and a Canon 70-200mm F4 and need something to cover the lower range. I am looking at the two Sigma's and need some help.

At the moment I am looking at the Sigma 28-70 F2.8 (all the way through), with a 67mm filter thread which is the same as the Canon 70-200, so I can use the polariser on both. In my searching I also found the Sigma 17-70 F2.8-4.5. R100 difference between the two so not much in price.

So how much added benifit is the extra 11mm going to make? Or is the benifit of having F2.8 vs F4.5 at 70mm the deal breaker?

The 17-70 is not in the same class as the 24-70. If the focal range is not much of an issue, go for the 24-70. If you want the wider range, look at the Tamron 17-50. If you want the up-to-70mm range, and don't care too much for the minimum aperture, the Canon 17-85mm is a pretty decent lens.
