I love the excuse they use. There was an excessive amount of Public Holidays in April, affecting sales. LMFAO, last time I looked, last year April had a lot of public holidays too.....what a co-incidence.

Think that guys needs a sign to hold to remind him he is stupid

EDIT: If I recall correctly, numbers have being falling year on year since around October last, more like 6 months in a row, with each month being more thana 25% decline from previous year.

I totally agree with you... but then again motoring companies don't have to believe in economics.

Example. VW fast tracks the Golf 6 because the Golf 5 was costing too much to build and taking a day longer than industry average (hence making it cost more) . Now they launch the Golf 6 and *drum.roll* it costs more than the Golf 5 - hmm guess those cost that were saved went straight into the profit column - why pass them on to the suckers ... erm consumers that buy vehicles :(

I got an sms from the local GM dealer to quickly come in and order my new Corsa before the prices went up...yes...quite!!

Then VWSA has the audacity to sell a Citi at a DISCOUNTED R90 000....and a Polo for over 200k, that cost half of that 5 years ago...sorry, guys, it's time they caught a wakeup call...screw them!

The Golf 6 was never going to be cheaper than the Golf 5.
It was due for release now, regardless of the economic crisis.

I also dont understand how the car industry works regarding their current pricing, but its just ridiculous, even people that can afford to buy the car are feeling done in by these new increases. My car went up R55 000 in 1 year!!!

Yah, thats a kark story, I bought my bakkie last week during the public holidays

This is not just a motoring problem... it is a general South African problem.

They just do not know how to lower prices.

With the recession in the USA... people are giving away two cars for the price of one.

But here... their reasoning is... "we'll raise prices so people think cars have more value"!

Bunch of Loons!

Driving past Tembisa last month I wasn't surprised to see that the storage area still is full.

All those brand-new cars going vrot because sales are slow...

Was at a ford dealership and they just had a 6% increase and apparently another in June...

I for one won't be buying a new car anytime soon. Property is down and cars are up...

Interest rates are also coming down...

Interestingly, worked late yesterday evening, and drove past several car dealerships (in the Menlyn Park area). All had their lights on. Nobody's trying to save overhead costs, they just leave their lights on.

And they expect that the customer will pay for those overheads...

went to an audi dealership & asked why they are still increasing prices even though input costs like steel & platinum are down 50%. salesman says the "steel" they use went up 25%, where do they mine it, the moon?!

I can only see it as greed, in the hope that they will catch people and carry on with fantastic profits.

When I worked for VW a few years back, prices went up every quarter, usually by about 7%, no matter what the economy was doing. The SA buying public simply continue to buy, no matter what the prices are. We as the buying public, need to finally say enough is enough...but it won't happen!!

They NEED to drop prices... Then people WILL buy cars, increasing prices wont increase profits, decreasing profit per car and increasing volume sold will lead to higher SALES which will give them MORE profit...

Seriously... How stupid are these people...

Checking the latest amount of car sales on wheels24, even the Opel Utility that was selling at a solid rate of 1500 per month has now dropped to 800...

Also VW is starting to seriously kick ToyToys arse...

Somehow I get the feeling these guys would rather starve and let their cars rust before they will sell them at a reasonable price to the public. It is hard-headedness to the core. Greed makes a man go mad and do irrational things. This is a prime example.

They put the prices of new vechiles way up :( R150k for an entry level Ford Fiesta! Wtf are they thinking?
