SA FACES a diplomatic dilemma. It invited Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir to president-elect Jacob Zuma’s inauguration on Saturday, but hopes he will stay away as the government would have to arrest him for alleged war crimes.

Ntsaluba acknowledged that the al- Bashir indictment could present a problem.

“We hope that in the interests of the relations between SA and Sudan we will not have an unfortunate event,” he said.

What's the point of having relations with a country that is totally fskd and you get no value from ? Why invite the poephol in the first place ?

I don't see the problem.
We've often had our comrades from Libya, Cuba and other "terrorist / rougue type" nations visit us.
We keep defending them in the UN as well.

Al Bashir is the only one who has a warrant for arrest issued from the ICC and if he does land in SA we are obliged to arrest him. If we do not, there will be an international political *****storm.

I heard that that was one of the reasons he was coming to SA.

Apparently there is an upsurge in the production of "Get Off Scot Free" tapes since the Zuma saga and apparently they have had a plethora of calls from ex-and current politicians and shady characters all requesting customised copies and versions.

Yeah the thing is they invited him because they don't give two horses a55es about what the world thinks. It's now dawned on them the are obliged to arrest his sorry butt cheeks, and that will involve actually doing something decent, and constructive for the greater good, and we all know their aversion to things common and decent.

Kudos to them though for realising they effed up, now if they could only send a message like that to Mad Bob... Still aching to see a British Diplomats reaction to meeting him at the inauguration :D

LMAO Protocol officers....But you have a point

From the UK I can understand, but from Zims/SA... totally ironic actually. If the government had any "moral fibre" they wouldn't need said protocol officers as they would not have invited "dodgy politicians"
 
Moral fibre?? If Kellogg was taken over by the catholic church and start working 24/7 for the next 100 years, they would not be able to make enough moral fibre for this government
 
Haha! How embarrassing. Imagine inviting someone of international stature to an event and then at the last minute telling them they're no longer welcome for whatever reason.
