An Mthatha woman suspected of witchcraft was shot dead on Thursday night, Eastern Cape police said on Friday.

Superintendent Mzukisi Fatyela said the 49-year-old woman was watching television with a neighbour's 15-year-old son when two men burst into her home at Ndibela near Mthatha and killed her.

They injured the boy, who was later rushed off for treatment.

The woman was neither a sangoma nor a herbalist, and police are investigating what may have led to the claims and who may have killed her over it.

With that logic then, when I was 15 my parents' best friends should've been shot as well. Along with the 30-year-old female goldsmith I loved talking to and watch work, along with the 60-year-old male store owner I used to have long chats with, along with every single other adult I have ever been "alone" with for more than a few minutes :rolleyes:
