What type of modem are you connecting? Try check the MTU as it could be different to what's on your Netgear?

The modem is the Netgear DG632. It's got the ability to act as a modem or a modem and router. Currently I am trying it on "just a modem" option.

The router is the Sitecom.

I can conect to the "network" throught the Sitecom router but not to the internet.

So I presume the modem is an ADSL built-in modem... So is the MTU the same on both?

Maybe I should explain better (also bear in mind that I am not an expert user).

I had a normal Netgear DG632 router/modem setup to my desktop. I bought the Sitecom WL-312 wireless router with the following in mind.

Using the Netgear DG632 as a modem feeding into the wireless router. Obviously for wireless connection of my laptop etc and a wired connection to my Desktop (Not wireless as it stands next to my modem and router)

I can get all the computers to "see" each other via the wireless router. The only problem is that I cannot get the router to access the modem and therefore the internet.

Would appreciate any comments and advice.

Are there any resources on the net that can assist me?
Thanks

Can you please supply ip addresses for Wireless Router LAN&WAN ports?

Can you please supply IP address for ADSL Router/Modem LAN&WAN ports?

Currently all we can do with the info provided are thumbsucks.

And my thumb is already quite sore lol. So from what I understand is that you have your Netgear actting as a modem and your old Sitecom router or computer would dial up from it (or would the connecting occur in the Netgear router itself?). Now your new router should be connected through PPPOE and follow with your ISP login settings and standard MTU being 1472 or 1492.

Without serious thumb pulling the matter was resolved.

Netgear acting as a modem - bridged
Sitecom router doing what it is supposed to be doing.

For the first time in my household I am posting this reply wirelessly from my bedroom.....

Learned a few things along the way and I am a better person for it - hopefully.
