Went to Telkom in Alberton today to get my modem replaced...still no stock :( On a verrrrry long waiting list.
 
ja, they are out of stock almost everywhere. Been hearing about this for two weeks now. I just loaned my spare one to someone else in Alberton.
 
I have had my name down since the 8th of May and on phoning them yesterday the woman told me that it would take at least 5 weeks for stock to arrive!! :mad:

Oh and on a side note a fault on my line dated the 13th May has still not been looked at by Telkom :mad:

If you have the order number for that fault, dial 10219 and make sure that the order is still open.
When they eventually fix it, you can claim a refund from the date the order was raised till the date they fixed it, from 10210.

When they fix it, raise a new "fault", the fault being that you cannot get a replacement ADSL router, so that you can get a refund on your ADSL line rental while you wait for the router.

This is really bad form Telkom. Crumbling crumbling crumbs.

Agreed. I'll rather go and buy a decent router than wait for Telkom to get stock, even if you are waiting for a router that needs to be replaced under warranty. ;)
 
phoned telkom today... a week ago they said that they will have routers on the 15th of June, today they said they are not sure when they will revieve stock as the supplier emailed them today explaining that it will take some time before they can deliver. they advised me to just go buy one... hahahaha...
its billion routers btw.

So what is the fill rate?

My near blissful experience with the Eric Program (what ever that is) came to a sudden stop with the lady I was dealing with asking to exercise some patience once my line was ready as they have no modems...

Telkom Direct Randburg waiting list 200+

With comments of the stores receiving as little as 10 devices at a time...

Oh and the list of devices on the forms... Is obsolete... Billion 800 VGT, no longer offered... Billion 400 something or Netgear something else...

So... Off I go to cancel contract because they cannot supply the modem.
Pity... As it has been 14 days from web-query to ADSL ready for use...
Before I go do this... Anyone know if a store has 1000 in-stock anywhere?;)
 
Apparently supplier issues. I was at a Telkom shop at Canal Walk and they had a guy there testing the routers. He was saying that about 75% of the routers returned were not even faulty. They plugged them in there and they worked, sometimes just reseting and reconfiguring, sometimes he found that that Guest account was on the router.
 
So today after allll these months of me having my line dropping all the time and having had *i don't even remember* how many techies from Telkom come out to my home, run tests, reset my line OVER and Over again I finally get someone who knows what they are doing!! He gives me a call asks me to explain the problem i have I tell him about my line loosing sync etc and GUESS WHAT! he finds a fault on a underground cable and wait for it..............replaces it!! my internet looks stable so far :eek: I am in total shock this has been a problem for me since the end of December last year.... and about 5 min after all this I get a call from Telkom direct telling me they have got to me on the waiting list to replace my modem and i should come and collect it :D

Awesome Friday for me! Hugs all around :p
