Hi all,

I am connected to the Sandton base station. My service has been quite erratic, but generally been fine. This morning though it is slooooowwww. I have spoken to iBurst and it appears that technically I am in a white zone (although this is not the case on the maps and I do get between 3 and 5 bars of signal). I am also eagerly awaiting the external antennae.

I have picked up the following problem and wonder if anyone can help. Since the upgrade to the Sandton base station, my connection closes when it is not used. This did not appear to be the case before. I don't have a problem with this, but the reconnect seems to be a problem. I'm connecting a XP box, eMac and Powerbook to a Gigabyte wireless router which has the UTD plugged in. The connection times out (I'd assume) overnight and in the morning it will not reconnect unless I reboot the UTD (ie cycle power to use old IBM parlance).

Any ideas?

Regards,

Michael

It seems the problems just grow in number...not good at all :(

I also found the need to occasionally reboot the modem in order to reconnect, but not since my signal improved to a constant 5 LEDs. So I think fluctuations in signal strength can cause a problem with the modem. Relocation or an external antenna may well be the solution.

I'm assuming, of course, that you don't have the connection set to timeout after a period of inactivity.... ;)

Also in Sandton, no problems encountered. Maybe the MTU change is having an impact...
