I find this article very hard to believe, then again only 500 people were used in the survey. Out of all my friends and family who use the internet almost daily, I would say that only a small number of them actually buys online.

I agree. I am sure a large number of people on this forum also buy online, but I know a lot of people not on this forum that use the internet for very different purposes. Like just for banking and the odd email...

Many still distrust internet shopping and prefer to go to bricknmortar stores. I am on the fence, really. Will use either, depending on price, warranty and after-sales service...

A sample should be around 2000 AFAIK.
 
Must just be the circles you people are in because nearly everyone I know does online shopping ....... I'd say half of them even do grocery shopping online.
 
Hassle I think is the main thing, delivery is less than petrol costs and you can take your time and plan properly which in turn actually saves you money.

Interesting...Grocery shopping has become a mission. Buying online would mean you miss instore specials, though...
 
not all the time .... PnP sometimes lists specials the day before on their site ;)
 
I'm a constant online person.. and until recently I never bought online, and I must say my experience so far has not filled me with confidence in terms of online retailers...

Though I would do grocery shopping online simply to avoid going to the shops...
 
I order new Linux distributions from Foss CDs every six months, that's it. I once tried ordering a book from a well-known SA online site, but it turned into a complete disappointment. After keeping me in suspense for over two weeks, they informed me that they were "out of stock".

So, I'm probably one of the 80%, but I only shop from one site (so far).
