Neotel versus the media

Its time to publish a story about how BAD NEOTELS NETWORK IS and how consumers are suffering as a result of it.

NEOTEL get your sh*t together and give us the service you promised us when we signed up to you! Instead you give us speeds slower than dailup and disconnections every 5 -10mins

Neotel is the biggest disappointment this year!

If the ANC government can brand Helen Zille as a political racist, then why not let the media brand Neotel as culturally racist? It seems that ethics aren't exactly at a high-point in this country at the moment.

Considering that neotel was down the WHOLE of yesterday, the "babysitters" aren't doing a good job - and neither are the people being "babysitted"

I didn't realise it was that bad. I have never seen their products or used any of them. Should we be concerned if they operate the landing station of SEACOM?

Neotel are not South Africa's 2nd fixed line operator, they are South Africa's 14th Wireless operator.

I wonder if that is totally true -- surely some small WISPs have better coverage :-)

For the life of me I can't see what the long term strategy is. But maybe they are filling some obscure niche that I don't know about (they only person I know with Neotel is somebody that needs a backup connection for his WoW in case his Telkom line gets stolen again).

I here Neotel's IT skills are not to hot and it takes them a long time to get the basics working. They are throwing money into their network without much of a business plan obviously and internal staff may be starting to see this lack of direction and skill.

I would not be impressed if this was the situation and all the expats are running the show.

Ummmmm

People who used to work there have left for the very "soft issues" now public knowledge... Maybe they should take the knock like professionals they claim to be, and do something about fixing it. Or at least improving their services.

"...Basic ethics of modern day progressive journalism require journalists to identify and quote their sources directly.”

"When I wrote in my reply to her that Neotel does not respond to rumours in the market, I was challenging her to reveal her source so that I could better understand the context of her question."

I always thought that it was Journalistic ethics to protect one's sources, particularly from gnashing at the bit eager-to-punish-someone executives

The telecoms provider has however come out guns blazing after the article, saying that the report by Mochiko is not accurate and has damaged the Neotel brand in the public domain.

I think that all the posts on this forum detailing how rubbish the Neotel wireless network is have damaged their brand far more.

“When I wrote in my reply to her that Neotel does not respond to rumours in the market, I was challenging her to reveal her source so that I could better understand the context of her question. What if the ‘faceless market’ is a disgruntled former employee or even worse, someone working for one of our competitors?”

Yeah!! That's an easy one - blame Telkom!!!!

...and the pot then said:

“It is of great concern to me that Mochiko was willing to damage a good corporate reputation

BWAAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!

... Basic ethics of modern day progressive journalism require journalists to identify and quote their sources directly.”

WHAAAHAHAHAHAHAAAHAAA!!!

Oh stop it NeoFail! ..you're killing me. heeheehee! :D

They blame the media for their bad rep? Oh well, it's a step up from Ted Vos...

+1 Their Brand was destroyed long ago by themselves.

I'm surprised that NeoGhost thinks the media has destroyed its public image & brand, next NeoGhost will start blaming astrology and the star under which its licence was issued by !CASA back in December 2005, perhaps NeoGhost can also blame !CASA for allowing NeoGhost to use 800MHz which has far better penetration than the higher frequencies with much lower penetration & more interference used by all of NeoGhost's competitors...

Is it not true that the decision to use CDMA2000 instead of say HSPA, came from the Tata group? - I expect there was a bunch of CDMA2000 equipment lying about that was almost rusted through.

No such issues have been brought to our attention, which means that it is pure speculation,” said Wandile Zote, Executive head of Corporate Communications & Branding at Neotel.
Or.... You are unaware of it as you seem to be unaware of what customers want!

“It is of great concern to me that Mochiko was willing to damage a good corporate reputation in pursuit of a story.
Good reputation? Neotel have nobody to blame for ruining their good reputation but themselves.
