I can't access http://www.slashdot.org - can any Bryanston water tower users tell me if they can access it? Certain other websites work just fine, albeit slow.
A linux ping of slashdot.org returns a constant bad code 10 - google tells me that this is because 'packets are being administratively filtered by host'.
I have done the mtu calculation, read the readme.1st, googled etc. Please help Bryanston/River Club users!
Thanks.

No issues accessing Slashdot via my local proxy which connects to an external proxy 196.2.62.169.
Slashdot is almost unreachable without the proxy setup I am using. Average download is 20B/s. Not very good at all.
Can not ping the site either. Getting timeout and destination unreachable.
There is an issue and I don't think that it has been resolved as declared by Shaun Green earlier today.
It seems about time for me to climb on the nag wagon.
Just to add insult to injury while I was trying submit this; my link just dropped and came back after a few minutes.
Maybe that is a sign?

thanks for your help. what local proxy are you using? I am using squid, and I have no idea how to make it access an external proxy.
thanks

I figured it out... Slashdot is back! Slowly!
