Been using Windows 7 32-bit and Chrome and it's very sweet. Had 64-bit on my lappie and it was giving issues so took it off..
I'm not totally sold on the 64-bit version of Windows 7 but I may have been missing a driver or 2, didn't find there to be any noticeable difference in performance compared with the 32-bit. Perhaps the added burden on the laptops resources negated the performance advantage...

Ok, on my old system, Vista 64, it took some time to open up one of the other drives in the machine.
Not a lot of time but when opening a 1TB drive there was some delay.
Now there is nothing

I don't see how having large folders depends that much on ram ?
win7 uses about 1GB of ram on my PC so surely there is another 1GB for this? I don't see how even 8GB's of extra ram would benifit the loading of folders?
the point is my CPU/RAM meter doesn't run full on RAM % when I navigate around, so why would more help?
IMO it's more of a HDD thing.....

try
..\Crysis WARHEAD\Bin32\Crysis.exe" -DX9
One of the biggest performance improvements for Windows Vista users is to switch from using the default DirectX 10 renderer to DirectX 9, in the process gaining quite a few FPS with no noticeable drop in image quality. To do this, you must use the -DX9 command line switch. If you have a desktop icon for Crysis Warhead, then right-click on it, select Properties, then at the end of the Target box, one blank space after the last character, add -DX9. It should look something like this:
"C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\Crytek\Crysis WARHEAD\Bin32\Crysis.exe" -DX9
Alternatively, if you use the Games Explorer launch icon for Warhead, then you can right-click on that and select 'Play DX9' to launch the game in DX9 mode. If you want to always launch Crysis Warhead in DX9 mode just by double-clicking the icon in Games Explorer, then right-click on its icon, select Customize, highlight the 'PlayDX9' item and click the 'Move Up' button at the top right until 'PlayDX9' is at the top of the list, and click Close. Now the game will automatically run in DX9 mode whenever the icon is double-clicked. You can do the same for Crysis Wars.

how u guys finding win 7? Buggy? or fairly stable?32-bit awesome awesome awesome, not particularly faster than XP was/is but certainly more user friendly and a lot more efficient then Vista.
Not a big fan of 64-bit though, loaded on my laptop and it wasn't significantly (if at all) quicker or better than 32-bit. In fact the system crashed on a couple of occasions but this occurred while my daughter of 3 was mucking around with paint so could have been her erratic left and right clicks...

Note to the dude who's having issues with Crysis...
I don't know if NVIDIA has the same problem, but the ATI 9.5 drivers (sometimes?) don't install properly. Windows 7 kept using the default WDM driver until I manually told it to use the new .inf in the ATI folder. The Catalyst Control Centre wouldn't launch etc, and obviously games would have run much slower.
Not sure it's related, but that was my mileage anyway. :p
Once I sorted out that issue, Windows 7 became very, very fast.

i installed crysis just after the OS install and it picked up everything except a single PCI controller, otherwise it went flawlessly. The game plays without any switches and so far it works beautifully, well done Bill, for once I think MS may just have a good product here.
Nice little extra features like the Theme packs are nice and the slide show background thing is just great.....I am sufficiently impressed

Doesn't windows 7 just optimize which applications are prioritized. For example in XP and VISTA, windows updates and the like always have a higher priority which causes a delay in gaming latency download speeds etc. as windows is continuously sending little packets out on their own mission (maybe not noticeable but has an effect).

You have to run it on 64 bit hardware, if your cpu or mobo is not 64 bit capable you cannot run 64 bit for obvious reasons, this should only affect laptops and oldish pc's.
