Maybe I have completely missed the point on these new 3G bundles. I enquired to Vodacom about the 3G250 MB bundle - where I could buy. This is the answer :

Dear Patrick

Thank you for your e-mail.

The 3G 250 data bundle is an added bundle on an existing talktime package. Please supply us with the Vodacom cellular number so that we may assist you further.

Should you have any further queries, please contact us via e-mail at cc_ct@vodacom.co.za.

Warm Regards

As far as I am aware you need to buy the 3G card (big bucks) :(

I'm in a simmilar situation...

For legacy reasons :-) I don't have a vodacom contract, but the low-volume 3G packages look very apealling to me for the ocassional at-home email checking and surfing (the missus would donner me if I spent too much time on the laptop whilst at home :-) ). My current network can only tell me that "they are reviewing the current costs for data services". Ok, yeah, whatever.

First prize for me is a month-to-month data-only contract on any of the low volume packages - and I'd even consider the R599 p/m package but I don't want to sign a 24-month contract. Of course, one needs to provide one's own card but that's fine.

Is there any chance of something like this?

Currently I see my only option is to buy a pre-paid SIM and pay the out of bundle rate for data, which is not *too* bad but the slight advantage of the lower per MB costs for the packages is a nicer option.
