I first picked up a copy of The Guinness Book of Records – when they were called that – sometime in the mid- to late 80s. I was impressed with the depth and breadth of the information contained therein – the eclectic mix of chronicles of various extraordinary deeds. I flipped through a couple more in subsequent years, but since most of the information remains constant, I soon desisted.
