No Tower No Signal But don't want to accept No!

I want MyWireless and willing to try and make it work.

I have read on a previous post that " if a tower is more than about 6km away, there is no chance of making a connection, even if you have some signal strength?
This is due to the time the signal takes to travel to / from the tower."

I have looked on Sentech sight and at no suprise no signal at my location.
but was able to use them to work out the distance between me and the tower is about 6.2 km away, too far

But i'm sure that with the right reciving antenna or patch panel there has to be away. If there is any one with some in sight for me to get the signal, i'm all willing to find out and prepared to fork out a bit to make it work as I don't believe a Pringles packaging we get me out of this one.

crust, give it a try with someone elses modem. I've been able to connect a client who was over 7km away. 14% signal. Although, the refinery was between them so maybe that helped a little.

According to the sentech map, I shouldnt have signal but I've been connected for months now and signal ranges from 10 - 18%. Mostly sitting around 14 - 16%. All im using is a cantenna (pringles can - R20 at a BP) ... and you get free chips

Sentech has a tower literally accross the road from me, yet my area says no signal. Their web site is not up to date, and doesn't work properly.

If you do order, get ready for pages that don't load completely when downloading stuff, sloooooow torrents, sloooooow downloads, slooooooow email, SLOOOOOW FTP, slooooooow P2P...

The only thing that is quick is the first 500KB of any download, and loading any web page while not doing anything else.

crust- you give no info as to where you are/what tower you're looking at, this is info that would make it a lot easier to help you.. Aside from that, I've personally got sites working at ~5.7km and I've had a successful test (but didn't get an install ;~< ) at 5.9km.

There may well be a real chance to get this to work for you and I've love to push my distance record out to > 6km! *g*
