MPs say Icasa must get its act together

The structure of South Africa's telecoms regulator will have to be changed over time to allow for a more efficient decision making process, according to Ismail Vadi, the chairman of parliament's portfolio committee on communications.

ICASA? Fight back? :D You have to light a fire under them to so much as get them to move and then it usually backfires (Vodacom listing, for example).

Who knows... this might end up working out or the best. *holds thumbs*
 
I hope the MPs consulted with COSATU before issuing this statement. They wouldn't want to be seen as undermining COSATU's authority now...:rolleyes:
 
How would part-time councillors make for more efficient decisions and facilitate Goldstuck's wish for "more adequate interaction with interested parties"?
 
Arthur Goldstuck, the managing director at World Wide Worx, said the experience on the ground was that Icasa did not engage adequately with interested parties unless they were politically connected.

Why change the decision making process?

Their decisions are just fine, it's the implementation of their decisions and the second-guessing that is at fault.

FAIL.
 
Icasa lost the case and will have to foot the legal bills of Vodacom, Telkom and the government, as well as Vodafone's lawyers.

Why isn't Cosatu held responsible for any legal fees? Surely as I read the news they (Cosatu & Icasa) instigated the whole thing together.
