Reserve Bank - rates unchanged

How angry will you be when there's no room left for cuts?

Imagine how much more you will despise this country when inflation goes through the roof, the rand weakens beyond repair and foreign investment falls as if it was apartheid all over again.

Unfortunately we can't have our cake and eat it too. Dropping rates may decrease the burden on consumers and may allow businesses to borrow more but then SA will stop being an attactive investment zone and inflation will start to rise again due to the mini boom.

Nothing in SA pleases Marine1.

Are we? We pay ridiculous electricy prices, we have sub standard services, including internet that we are paying mad prices for, we have some of the highest interest rates in the world.
We have one of the most corrupt countries in the world.
Should I go on?
Yeah we are definitely better than the US

maybe not better than the US, but you are obviously exaggerating.

Without FDI, all we have is carry trade, we need that desperately at this junction of this world wide mess.

Chatted to a wise man today, some of the **** happening locally here, let alone of shore is quite scary.

Walked away nipping myself..

Don't take whatever he said too seriously. Everyone is a "wise man" lately. And all have different opinions on what's happening and what will happen in the future. No use in panicking over some dude's opinion.

Trust me, this man has consistently been ahead of the curve, for as long as I have known/understood him (15 years). All his properties sold by the beginning 2008, bought 5-20 years previously.

This is not a guru by any stretch of the imagination, but researches more than us combined x50.

He has consistently given free advise over a coffee that I doubt, only for me to be proven wrong.

I am a ID10T, but even I can review the score card in hind sight. Pretty good score card in the last 15 years since I became "aware" of the world of .

'tis all

The flip side of this is that a interest rate cut means less money for those who have investments so those wise enough to save rather than get themselves in debt would be quite pleased with this news.

Then why don't you leave ???

Stupid. That doesn't help.

The rate cuts are because of common logic, not because the ANC wanted it.

I'm with you on this one. I don't think we can afford more than 50base points at this point.
