which laws would you do away with?

which laws would you bring in?

which current laws are being overlooked that you would reinforce?

The death penalty would be brought back the same with corporal punishment.
And BEE would see the door.

Death penalty and 24 hour courts.

I would also make the death penalty within 3 months and not this 5-10 year BS. Jails are full need to clear some space.

BEE may be on it's way out already i heard.

Same as Mila, however I'd close all borders, deport all illegals.
As well as give up our membership of the AU, SADC and U.N.
Withdraw all troops from all countries and then "retrain" them.
I'd then implement martial law in big city centres and "clean them up".
I'd then jail every politician that has been convicted/caught of corruption.
Ban SACP and COSATU since they're not political entities as such and just "part of the gang".

Just a few ;-)

EDIT: I'd privatise TELKOM/ESKOM/Spoornet (or whatever it's called these days) but I'd only take non BEE compliant tender bids. I'd also gradually ban the taxi industry and replace it gradually with licenced regulated alternatives. I'd sell all arms that were bought in the dodgy arms deals, and implement conscription.

I'd change the constitution so that the voting age was 21, but only after schooling has been finished, and if that's not possible the non educated would have to fulfill community service for the number of years they have not finished school ie: if you finish school in STD 8 you have 2 years community service etc.

I would make it unlawful for retailers and manufacturers to charge more than a certain percentage more for smaller portions of grocery items ---- starting with baby foods.

When you see the difference in price between small and larger quantities, you can plainly see that the people that can least afford it, are paying the most and getting ripped off.

// legalise Hoss
// Ban SUV's

Bwhaha!!:D:D

+10

I would do away with any law that makes it possible for me to be prosecuted, ever!

I would bring in laws that would allow for all taxes to be paid directly into my various bank accounts.

I would reinforce whatever law suits me - it's none of your business - I'm the one and only supreme leader!

:D

I'd ship the lot of you off to Ethiopia and have my own country and call it Serqetopia and none of you would be invited unless you agreed to come be my slaves. *evil cackle*

It will NEVER happen.(death penalty) It goes against the global trend of recognition of human rights. Our constitution guarantees the right to live and that will not change.:D

This is a no-brainer and a toughie:

First, the no-brainers:
  • Do away with gun control laws
  • Do away with any law that restricts the liberty of the citizens
  • Only regulate activities or things that are clearly harmful or beneficial to citizens in the short term and long term. Eg, chemicals, medicines, public spaces, parks and nature reserves etc BUT keep this list as small as possible and review every year.
  • Bring back corporal punishment in schools
  • Implement public caning for certain crimes
  • Bring back capital punishment but with very strict parameters and using the "old" style laws where a person can only be tried in the morning (when judges are fresh) and also to have at least 3 judges: 1 picked by the accused, 1 picked by the prosecutor and 1 assigned by the court. No juries; only stupid people wind up on juries (the ones who could not get out of it). Also judges would suffer the safe fate as the accused if it was shown that the judges willing convicted an innocent.
  • Reduce government to only removing violence from the equation (only army and police force), and act on behalf of the citizens for foreign policy and treaties
  • Get rid of ALL welfare
  • Get rid of ALL income taxes, only a single digit, simple, flat consumption tax. NO MORE SARS, NO MORE TAX RETURNS
  • Get rid of ALL parastatals, only private companies
  • Get rid of ALL public hospitals, encourage private hospitals. This will actually bring down the cost of health care as hospitals will have to charge what the public can afford. Most importantly, they will be answerable to the law so will be punished for wrong-doings whereas a public hospital wrong-doing would embarrass a politician so it is swept under the rugs; plenty of examples in SA.
  • Educate people on fiscal tools, skills and responsibilities. This will make it more difficult for the corporate (socialist) entities to rape the country
  • Encourage more individualism in society: encourage entrepreneurship, encourage contracting instead of permanent employment (slavery and laziness), encourage fiscal responsibility, encourage small business over corporates (better economical adaptability in a crisis, not so much capital locked up in a few companies that can bring down the whole economy with them)
  • Encourage private schools, phase out public schools. Create a demand for cost effective schools and it will happen; encourage and upskill for home schooling. Parents should take more time and effort to impart their kids with good values instead of just outsourceing parenting to schools.
  • Phase out public roads and favour private companies owning roads. Better maintained, incentive to expand and competition keeps pricing down.
  • Encourage "greener" homes. Homes that are more energy efficient are also cost efficient and more comfortable for the owner - IE, not freezing my **lls in winter and sweating the amazon in summer. Localising electricity generators - nuclear and clean coal. Investigate the use of long term nuclear batteries for powering individual blocks of houses or small scale nuclear generators. Adaptable grids means less chance of country wide blackouts and make it harder for terrorists. Encourage, but NOT subsidise, research in alternative energies; if it not practical for a private company, the government has no right to waste taxpayer's money on unicorn projects.
  • 100% transparency in government

There is more to that list but I don't want to take all day.

Now, the toughie: How to fix SA's immediate problems.

There is no way around it, SA will have to spend to get SA into shape thus it must be implemented with the new tax regime but at a higher fixed flat tax rate until the number of "poor" people are reduced to an acceptable amount. This will not be free for the people, they will pay in terms of time and also be committed to work for a certain period of time at a certain rate. This rate will be negotiated after they are trained in the art of negotiation.

  1. We need to break the hopelessness of the "masses". For this, I would create empowerment camps that teach immediate life skills:
    • Western Ethics and Morality (replacing communism with something that works: the ethics and morality that made the west the strongest and richest nations in the world)
    • Fiscal skills and handling of money, how to invest in oneself, how to use banks properly and not be taken for a ride: bonds/loans, choosing the right accounts.
    • Practical economics
    • Proper assessment of worth
    • Negotiation
  2. After that, I would have them experience various job offerings and then choose a path. Entrepreneurial volunteers will take them up as apprentices and train them in work skills for their small companies that intend to service the developing areas. Keep their skills local and bootstrap.
  3. Encourage people to uplift their own areas, building subsidised council flats (but will not be free), policing using members of the community, keeping the area clean with strong punishment (including public caning) for littering, graffiti and delinquency. Fix the problems at the right time.

Once the number of poor are reduced to the acceptable level, the tax rate will reduce to single digits and the camps will be dismantled and no more subsidised housing.

If the poor people do not respond to the help provided, we will look at alternative means. If that does not work, if the poor want to remain poor, or want everything for free and refuse to be reasonable, then I will cut them off, close the camps, stop building flats and leave them to their own devices. If they riot and loot, I will have no problem authorising the police and army with "kill on sight" for rioters and looters. I will do everything in my means to exterminate this culture of violence. If they approach me with reason, they will get a reasonable response; violence and threats will be met with the same.

Whew .. so much to look forward to, a better SA for everyone.

Constitution is a piece of paper and we know what people have done with paper in the past.

Oh yes, I forgot:

I will eliminate identity and tribal based politics.

We are either South African or NOT.

No more White-South Africans, Black-South Africans, Coloured-South Africans, Indian-South Africans, Christian-South Africans, Muslem-South Africans, Jewish-South Africans, Hindu-South Africans, etc. No more advantaged or disadvantage or previously advantaged. No more AA, BEE, BBEEE, BBBBBBBBEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!

You are either a South African or you can take your chip and get the heck out of here!!!!!

True but the whole world will give us 2#*& for re-instating the deaqth penalty.

Fact is, with the incompetance of the legal system, would you want the possibillity of being killed by the state legally?

But I admit, there is no real deterrance for killers here. Sitting in jail is not scaring anyone. Maybe they should bring back hard labor?:D

I do not support state sanctioned capital punishment and nowhere did I say I do. Was merely mentioning constitutions have been abolished/ignored before.

Hard labour that generates a profit for the state would be a good idea. Make the buggers contribute to society in some form.
