I requested a week or so for a external antenna, and V3g helped me getting in touch with the right people.
This morning at work someone from a courier company phoned , and said there's someone at my house for a delivery from Vodacom for an antenna

So i arranged for someone to take delivery,thinking "cool the antenna finally arrived"
About 15 minutes ago, a guy walks into my office says he's got a delivery from Vodacom for an antenna ....

Now that's what i call service :D , Vodacom definitely made sure I got one

But now i'm stuck with 2 antennas

I don't know what went wrong, but i guess i can't complain :cool:

V3g let me know if i do have to send one back, just incase Vodacom might run out of stock ;)

And Vodacom raises its esteem even further, despite its partial Telkrap ownership... :) :) :)
 
hey i want one too... where do i sign up??? nobody phoned me?
 
I think your best bet would be to either send a message to Vodacom3g with your details, or you can phone Vodacom 3g support on 082 155, or 155 from vodacom cell, and ask them for an external antenna and they should courier one to you

p.s. they told me it would take about 14 days to get to me, but arrived in 2. Not sure if the lady did the maths wrong or what, but I am not complaining. can also email [email protected], give them all your details, 3G number, where you got contract, your address and contact number
 
There is a thread with the details on how to claim your free antenna (or two!)

1) You should have received a letter beginning of Feb that'll work as an IOU for an antenna, other wise mail crmoffice as per: http://www.mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php?t=17550

Please note the antennas are different for the Option card and the newer Novatel card, so please state what you have. I believe there is a current shortage of Novatel antennas, so you might have to wait a bit.
 
good point. Are the plugs different? Perhaps that why my antenna does not seem to really improve my life. How can you tell which antenna you have?
 
Yes, the plugs are different, so they won't fit on each other at all.

I'm pretty sure you've got an Option card and antenna.

Some people report an increase in signal with the antenna. I definitely get a bar or two. Others reports no real improvement and we've even heard of reduction in signal quality, probably due to a flaky unit.
 
Who exactly can get these antennas? Only the 3G-one subscribers or anyone who received a card through a contract? I asked at a local vodashop and they didn't even know the cards can get antennas.
 
just had a new thought. amazing that when things are going right, a mess up like this, is conceived as being a job too well done, whereas if it was iBust, it would be conceived as yet another thing going wrong and another sign of mismanagement. Just a thought.

Diabolus, guess V3G is the right one to answer, but I would assume anyone with a Card would be entitled, whether you paid cash for it or got it free with contract. I certainly have not seen anything limiting this offer to a particular bundle, if you have a smaller bundle, you perhaps paid for the card or paid more for the card than a 3G one user.

Anyway, like I said, sure V3G will clear this up

P.S. Still using that excess bandwidth :)
