It must be about 2 years ago I wrote a 1st person feature about Livingstone Hospital in Port Elizabeth.
Seeing as all we hear about these days is doctors and the conditions that they have to work in, it might be an interesting read for you guys.

On another note. I am starting up my own online publication. I can't give to many details at the moment as its still a work in progress, but if you enjoyed the story above you most likely will enjoy our little publication.

Sounds like a well staffed, well equipped, supplied hospital with low patient numbers, from what you describe.

I have a friend doing his Residency over there, he gets upset on a daily basis.
There are some Nigerian doctors working there that don't care about patients and in the time his worked his seen a man with his nose bitten off and an actual shooting inside the hospital when a prisoner coming for treatment wanted to escape.

Yeah its seriously bad. I'm trying to get into a Joburg public hospital for a day. If you know anyone that is doing their residency, please could you ask them If I can make contact with them, and also a number to contact them on.

One does not do RESIDENCY in South Africa. "Residency" is a US term. In SA the doctor would either do an internship, community service, be working in an ordinary job (medical officer) or be a registrar. The term for community service medical officers would be "COSMO".

From your description it doesn't sound bad. Perhaps to you it's bad and the public at large, but what you describe is not terrible at all compared to many other places in SA.

Okay, their community service then...
But really, if you know of worse places and know people that work in those worse places, why don't you let me help you and them out, and I will get in there and write a 1st person story, with pictures and capture video and post it online.

Doctors are not known for exposes or bean-spilling in case you haven't noticed. They should have added another line to their oath "Thou shalt not split on colleagues".;)
